Photos: Mosquito Nets distribution in Mutanda Island

Malaria is the leading cause of mortality, accounting for about 30-50% outpatient visits at health facilities, and up to 20% of all hospital deaths in Uganda and to reduce, the government is distributing mosquito nets countrywide in a campaign dubbed ‘Under The Net’.

On Mutanda island, a mother is seen leading a team of local leaders to her home, moments before receiving a mosquito in Namutanda village, Mutanda island, in Nyondo subcounty, Kisoro district in western Uganda.

In the pictures, Village Health Teams (VHT) are disembarking a boat with LLIN mosquitos nets for distribution to communities of Mutanda island, in Kisoro district in western Uganda.

The exercise involved taking small engine wooden boat rides across several small islands on Lake Mutanda to deliver nets.
