The State Minister for Education in charge of Sports Hon. Peter Ogwang has said he is honoured to have graced the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) Cup 2022 Women’s football tournament in Njeru, Jinja.
The Minister said Football as a sport has been dominated by male gender especially in Sub-Saharan Africa. However, this notion is currently changing.
The tournament gives an opportunity to women to realize their dream of exhibiting their potential in soccer.
Girls from refugee settlements and from the rest of Uganda compete together in harmony. This has gone a long way in empowering them as well as promoting gender equality.
