NWSC Leadership attends Utility Leaders Forum in Amsterdam

The National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) Board and management have yesterday attended a utility leaders Forum during the 4th Amsterdam International Water Week 2017, Netherlands.

The utility Leaders Forum brings together experts in the water sector, government officials, investors, academia and other stakeholders who converge to discuss innovative solutions to the various global challenges affecting the water sector and translate the knowledge shared into action and improved service delivery for the citizens.

Sharing our success stories at the Utility Leaders Forum, NWSC MD Dr Eng Silver Mugisha shared that the corporation is working around the clock to achieve 100% access to safe clean water in all areas of operation.

“NWSC has extended its footprint from 23 towns and a total of 80kms of pipe laid per annum 4 years back to now over 1000km of water mains extensions per year and a total of 218 towns of operation.”

Dr. Silver added that the corporation working with the government of Uganda has embarked on a new programme (Service Coverage Acceleration Programme) to extend piped water to 12,000 villages, 140,000 new water connections and 20,000 Public Water Points in 80 districts of Uganda in the next 3 years.

NWSC Board member Mr. Dennis Nduhura shared the corporation’s 5 year strategic direction 2016-2021 that was rolled out by the board to enhance, align and measure the institution’s strategic goals and commitment towards water for all.

Also in attendance was the Senior Legal Officer Mrs Craven Barigye.
