Nnabagereka To Build Shs36b Training Centre
Buganda Kingdom has unveiled plans to build a multi-billion training centre for excellence, the Nnabagereka Development Foundation (NDF) chief executive officer, Ms Solome Nakaweesi Kimbugwe, announced at the weekend.
The royal enclosure, commonly known as Ekisakaate Kya Nnabagereka worth $12 million (about Shs36b) is to be built on a 65,350 square metres of land in Ssisa, Wakiso District.
“This facility is to have practical training and theoretical learning spaces, sports and recreational grounds, accommodation units, staff and administration offices. It will also have a multipurpose performance hall, amphitheaters, dispensary, farm, kitchen and dining space,” Ms Kimbugwe said.

Speaking at the handover of the plan at Bulange, Mengo, Ms Kimbugwe said the centre will nature the young generation through character formation, mentorship and leadership development, harmonising positive traditional and modern values, among other things.
The Nnabagereka, Sylvia Nagginda, said the plan was designed by a Makerere University’s department of Architect student, Mr James Kalyango.
“In a bid to promote local talent, local construction firms will be considered first,” she said.
UK Ekisakaate On
The Nnabagereka also announced this year’s UK Ekisakaate programme is set for August.
“It is a unique opportunity for the Diaspora youth to reconnect with their Ugandan roots and embrace traditional and cultural Ugandan values. It will be key in instilling in the younger generation a sense of pride and patriotism in being Ugandan,” she said.
