The National Medical Stores (NMS) Uganda has given clarification on reports circulating regarding an NMS vehicle that was impounded in Hoima City on Thursday, 17th October 2025, after a box of medicines was found on board.
Preliminary findings from NMS indicate that the box in question was part of the day’s distribution consignment, and was an excess that had to be brought back to NMS. Such occurrences are normal and often arise from routine logistical discrepancies during offloading and verification processes.

“We are working closely with security agencies to provide all the necessary documentation and to support their ongoing verification. NMS maintains a strict, transparent delivery system and continues to uphold zero tolerance for theft or misuse of government medicines. For any clarifications, the public and media are welcome to reach out to us directly,” Sheilla Nduhukire, Principal Public Relations Officer said.
