Shaydee is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, music director and performer has a new hit single titled mile’. We talked to him about his music career. Showbiz Uganda (SB) sat him down about his career. Read on….
SB: Tell us who Shaydee is?
Shaydee: Shaydee is a singer, songwriter, music director & performer born & bred in Nigeria.
SB: Tell us about your music, what kind of music do you sing and how long have you been singing?
Shaydee: I started out singing R&B in my early days but as i grew up & started to discover more of myself & my talent i realised i could do so much more. I sing reggae, R&B, Afrobeats, House, Trap etc.. Whatever has to do with singing. Let us just say I make Worldwide Music. I am signed to BankyWs EME records at the moment.
SB: I understand you have a new single. What is it all about?
Shaydee: Yes i just released a new single titled ‘Smile’ & it’s produced by Jaypaulbeatz & the Video was shot & directed in South Africa by Meji Alabi Films. It’s a midtempo vibe that’s dedicated to every single person that makes us smile, family, a lover or anyone special. We all deserve to have that Special someone that makes us smile every single day.
SB: You are a Nigerian. How do you compare Nigerian music industry with that of Uganda?
Shaydee: As far as Music is concerned, it’s a universal language & as a matter of fact the last time i came to Uganda i made a record with my brother APass titled ‘Loving & Missing’ & it’s been receiving so much love in Nigeria & Uganda.
SB: What do you have in store musically this year?
Shaydee: Apart from my new single ‘Smile’ i just dropped, My 21-track Album is ready and would be out sometime in July. i can’t wait for it out for all to listen because it also features many music stars i respect in the game like The Legend Tuface Idibia, Wizkid, Burna Boy, Flavour, APass, Ice Prince, Iyanya, Bankyw, Phyno, Reminisce plus many others. So my fans are in for a treat.
SB: Tell us about your love life?
Shadydee: Right now I am single.
SB: Who inspired you to sing?
Shaydee: My role model when i started out singing at about 14/15yrs old was R Kelly. The way he wrote & expressed his music was amazing. I was also influenced along the line by the likes of Tuface, Bob Marley, Stevie Wonder, Lauryn Hill. These are great artistes whose music will last generations to come & i definitely want to be counted as one of the greats someday.
SB: Given a chance, which artist in Uganda would you love to work with?
Shaydee: Like i said earlier i have worked with APass & luckily Uganda is blessed with amazing musicians so i definitely have plans to do more collaboration. i will keep the names under wraps for now though 🙂 i like to surprise my fans.
