NDA cautions public against medicine stockpiling and irrational use

National Drug Authority (NDA) has cautioned the public against stock piling, and panic buying of Chloroquine, hydroxychloroquine, other medicines and medical supplies.

Hoarding and hiking of medicines and medical supplies, denies access to those currently in need.

Chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine are Prescription only medicines which should only be purchased on prescription by a qualified medical practitioner.

Clinical studies investigating the potential benefits of Chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine in the management of COVID-19 are ongoing in different parts of the world and the NDA will update the public once the results from these studies have been released.

In the mean time, NDA appeals to the public to follow the Presidential directive, and Ministry of Health guidelines, to control the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.
