MP Seth hosts Over 300 Imbalu Candidates, Calls for Peace and Unity

The Member of Parliament for Mbale Northern City Division, Mr. Seth Wambede Kizangi, hosted over 300 Imbalu candidates from Bukonde and Lwasso at his home in Makosi, Bukonde, Mbale City, on Sunday. He called for peace and unity as they celebrate their cultural heritage.

As the candidates prepare for circumcision on August 10, 2024 in Bukonde and Lwasso, the MP donated items including basins, lesu (wrappers) for use after circumcision, and an envelope containing Sh20,000 to each candidate.

Wambede also pledged to secure land titles for the fields at Kidumi and Nagwere in Bumalunda, which include the Cultural Center, to protect them from encroachers. He urged all Bamasaaba to cherish and maintain their rich cultural heritage.

He expressed his happiness at the turnout, stating, “Last year, you called me and I came. I am happy that this year you have come to my home.”

Aliyi Nagwere, chairman of Isoja for Bukonde Lwasso and Namanyonyi, appreciated MP Wambede’s generous support for the Imbalu candidates.

“I urged Imbalu dancers to stop carrying sharp objects like pangas and spears during their processions, to respect other road users, and to avoid provoking vehicles and motorcyclists while dancing along the roads” Aliyi said.

Mr. Wedanya Tabu Nambuka, chairman of the Mukonde clan in Inzu ya Masaba, also expressed gratitude to MP Wambede for hosting the candidates.

He encouraged them to be strong as they will showcase the Isonja dance in Mutoto cultural site on August 3rd at the launch of Imbalu (circumcision), noting that those from Mwambu and Mubuya are well-prepared for the competition.
