Meet Nigerian sensation singer Runtown

Nigerian born singer Douglas Jack Agu, who is better known as Runtown is currently one of the biggest afrobeat and dance hall artists to emerge from Africa. He was born on August 19th 1989. He started off song writing in 2007 for Beluga Heights (Sean Kingston and more).

His debut single was titled “Party like it’s 1980” and was released in 2011. He came to the Limelight in 2014 when he dropped “Gallardo”, a Collaboration with Nigerian artist, Davido.


Early Days

The song went on to become a monster hit and propelled him from near oblivion to super stardom also winning him the Nigerian Entertainment award in New York, best collaboration for that year and other awards and nominations.

He put out his debut album Ghetto University in November 2016 which featured DJ Khaled, Walshy Fire of Major Lazer, Wizkid and more.

The smash hit single “Bend Down Pause” broke even further boundaries becoming number one in the Caribbean charts.


Runtown Headlined the 2016 Machel Monday concert in Trinidad and Tobago alongside Pitbull and Lil John. He also headlined the 2016 Crop Over Carnival in Barbados and the Mercury Beach festival in St Lucia.

Runtown had Dj Khaled on the intro of his debut album. Physical copies of his album got sold out in Nigeria less than three months after its release in November 2015.

He took part in a Campaign shoot for Adidas Originals which was creatively Directed by Ifeanyi Nwune of I.N. Official.

His success story began in 2014 when he dropped a Collaboration with fellow artist, “Davido”, titled Gallardo.
