MARRIAGE WOES ; Veronica Mirembe Faces Family Persecution and extermination over Religious Segregation

A storm is brewing in a tea cup over the resolve of a one Veronica N Mirembe a devout catholic to get married into an Islamic family.

Mr.Edward Namakajjo and his family, who reside in Kyengera , along the Masaka -Kampala road have time immemorial been members of the St.Joseph Cathedral, kyengera congregation , were rattled when Veronica , unleashed the unplattable news that she intended to marry Mudie Shauri a Muslim of British origin.

In a family meeting convened by Mr.Namakajjo, the family head at their home in kyengera, it was decreed that Veronica , was not going to be granted her wish and that any attempt of doing so would lead to serious consequences which included being expelled and exterminated.

It is alleged that one of her uncles swore that he would send her to an early grave if she dared go ahead with her marriage plan.

A romantically determined Veronica then cut communication with her family and relatives who later discovered that she had indeed not only secretly married Mudie on 15th August 2018 ,but also converted to the dreaded Islamic faith.

The family and relatives then embarked on a mission of tracing Veronica , at all known places of abode at no avail.

However, it was later discovered that Veronica had managed to later sneak out of the country with the help of her husband to seek solace in the United Kingdom.

Whereas, article 29 of the Uganda constitution stipulates that every citizen has freedom of conscience , expression ,movement , religion ,assembly and association, some extremist families still force their children to follow their parents faith even if they themselves think and believe otherwise.
