MANDATORY MOTOR VEHICLE INSPECTION; What you need to know

In July this year, the Ministry of Works and Transport commenced engagements and sensitisation for the implementation of the mandatory automated motor vehicle inspections to curb road accidents caused by mechanical failures.

The program commenced with government vehicles before expanding to cover all public and private transport sectors.

The core objective of the motor vehicle inspection services is to improve road safety and protect the environment by eliminating defective vehicles from operating on public roads through their inspection for roadworthiness and environmental compliance.

The Ministry has 7 inspection stations set up countrywide in Kawanda, Nabbingo, Namulanda, Mbale, Mbarara, Gulu and Namanve on Jinja Road with Mobile inspection stations to be made available in other parts of the country subject to demand for vehicle inspection services.

Automated inspection items

Visual inspection items.

Advisory inspection items.

AUTOMATED INSPECTION ITEMS;

SIDE SLIP; Front wheel side slip.

Suspension; Front & Rear Axle suspension performance.

Service brakes and parking brakes.
