Sirongo District’s NRM Chairperson, Mr. Mafabi Sulaiman Lumolo, held a grand thanksgiving ceremony to express his heartfelt gratitude to the sub-county delegates who elected him with overwhelming support. The event, held yesterday the 28, of June 2025, was not only a celebration of his victory but also served as the official launch of President Yoweri Museveni’s campaign for the 2026 elections.

The function was a vibrant affair filled with jubilation, dance, and unity. Delegates and NRM flag bearers from various sub-counties gathered early, enjoying a communal meal and engaging in spirited speeches and discussions. The ceremony was honoured by the presence of several distinguished guests from Bugisu, including Captain Dan Bashijya Barigye from the NRM Secretariat and also doubles as the Deputy Director uncharged of Political Affair ISO and a representative from the NRM Secretariat Representing The Secretariat General Mr Todwong Richard Mr Jay Jay Bakirikurya, whose attendance underscored the significance of the occasion.

The event also provided a platform for all NRM candidates to address the delegates and seek their support, with a strong emphasis on unity and peaceful campaigning. Each candidate pledged to uphold the principles of the NRM, vowing not to run as independents if not selected and committing to support the winning candidates.
A key message echoed throughout the speeches was the importance of respectful and issue based campaigns. Delegates were reminded that tearing down opponents’ posters is not only disrespectful but also a waste of resources, as true support is earned through meaningful dialogue and development-focused agendas.

In the end, the ceremony was a testament to the spirit of unity and optimism within the NRM in Sironko District, setting a positive tone for the journey toward the 2026 elections.
