Hon. Likambo Bahti Taylor who recently contested for MP Kibanda North County Kiryandongo District has appealed on the government to drop the proposed increase of UGX 300 excise duty on per kg from UGX 100.
He said there are concerns from sugarcane growers in Bunyoro Sub Region and have appealed on President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to drop the increase to UGX 300 tax per kg to be dropped.
Likambo said the increase will affect Small scale farmers who have just started the farming which will miss lead to low agriculture production who already have a high burden.
“We ask H.E the President to consider this appeal and listen to our cries,” Likambo said.
Hon. Likambo Bahti Taylor has continues to urge Kiryandongo District people to focus on government programs like Emyooga PDM and Wealth Creation.
