Kagiira Skills Development Centre to boost mordenisation of Agriculture 

Kagiira Skills Development Centre (KSDC) has opened its doors to the general public, we can confirm.
The centre is a fully registered institution and provides excellent practical
training in modern agricultural skills.

The centre of excellence is located in Ibanda district along Mbarara-Kamwenge Road at 95 kilometers from Mbarara.

It started as a training wing for Kagiira
farm in 2015 and trained Over 250 students and over 500 farmers .

How it started 

The center was established as a
demonstration site for Kagiira Farm as
a result of the several farmers’
requests to visit, learn and scale up the different agricultural practices that were being practiced at the farm.

KSDC Focus

The focus of KSDC is to offer training of farmers’ groups, students on internship, extension workers and other individual farmers on modern and high yielding sustainable agricultural practices in Commercial Diary farming, Poultry farming, Piggery, Goat and sheep rearing, tree planting and agronomy, Horticulture and Poultry farming.

It also acts as an incubation hub for
agribusiness and also acts as agro tourism center for agri tourists and also promote culture
through the agricultural museum.

Kagiira wants to be the leading Skills Centre of

excellence in transforming
Agriculture in Uganda.The institution’s mission is to provide practical agricultural skills to modernize agriculture
and to improve on production
and productivity.

To achieve its intended goals, KSDC has Partnered with the already established Agriculture institutions in the country and the Centre is an accredited site for

training of interns from: Bishop Stuart University (BSU),  Kitagata Farm Institute, Rwentanga Farm Institute,  Kyera Farm Institute,  Ibanda Farm Institute among others.

Apart from institutions KSDC has
other partners such as Kiryabishoro
Aquapack, Water Governance
Institute, Mariane Foundation.

KSDC is currently employing 20
staff with diverse qualifications in agriculture, ICT, financial and administrative management.

This is evidenced by the existing
human resource, financial and
records management systems at
the Centre.

With government’s efforts centred at Mechanisation and modernisation of Agriculture,this is the right time to join Kagiira Skills Development Centre in Ibanda.
