Laura Kahunde

SB: How did you get onto the second chance?
Laura: I was contacted by the creative director, Who was looking for a replacement for the former actress of the role of Angella Byekwaso. When I met up with and auditioned for her, she told me i was what she was looking for. She also explained that the former actress ( Fabiola) had a busier schedule that involved a lot of traveling so for the good of the project she gave it up.

SB: Why did you opt for that role?
Laura: I dint have to opt for it, i feel like God had predestined me for the particular role, that is why there was one spot and I am grateful it came along.

SB: Tell us about the feeling got when acting in the mask
Laura: Being wrapped in the bandages was quite uncomfortable and talking was not that easy, but it’s what we actors do, we take on another person’s situation and live it. I imagined what it would feel like to go through this after getting burnt. I also imagined there could be someone going through it now, how do i tell their story!

SB: How did you feel about the role?
Laura: I empathised with the character Angella Byekwaso, i felt sorry that she had to go through that, and that’s how i was able to settle into being her. You have to feel the emotions of the character then u can understand how to be them.

SB: What challenges did you face?
Laura: Most of the challenges i faced came on the day my face was revealed on TV. I was very nervous i even forgot some of the lines for the scenes i was doing that day. Also some of the fans dint welcome me because they realised Anita was not portraying the role anymore. However they started coming round within a few days.

SB: What should your dear fans expect from you?
Laura: What my fans should expect is getting the entertainment they deserve. My music will also be coming out sometime this year, they should look out for it.

SB: What is your comment about your Uganda film industry?
Laura: The film industry in Uganda is very promising. We have come a long way and part of the public has not been very kind, we do need their support. They have to remember that Hollywood and Nollywood were not built in a day, they need to be patient with us.
