The Executive Board of the Federation of African Engineering Organizations (FAEO) has appointed and approved two (2) NWSC staff members to be part of the newly inaugurated External Relations Committee (ERC), namely: Dr Eng Martin Kalibbala (Chairman ERC) and Eng Andrew Muhwezi (Member ERC).
Eng Muhwezi and Dr. Eng Kalibbala are also notable members of the Uganda Institution of Professional Engineers (UIPE) and Engineers Registration Board (ERB).
The ERC-FAEO Committee is an 18–member unit that handles FAEO’s technical, capacity building, and administrative collaborations and partnerships with notable entities like: African Union (AU), UNESCO, World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO), China Association of Science and Technology (CAST), Federation of Engineering Institutions of Asia and Pacific (FEIAP), Pan American Federation of Engineering Societies (PAFES), African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), African Organization for Standardization (ARSO), Commonwealth Engineers Council (CEC, UK), Institution of Engineers India (IEI), American Concrete Institute (ACI), European Federation of National Engineering Organizations (FEANI), FIDIC Africa, National Association of Infrastructure Companies (NAIC, Russia), Russian Highway State Company (RHSC), among other key stakeholders.
What is the summative mandate of the ERC Committee for the benefit of FAEO and UIPE engineers and membership?
This Committee is mandated to provide the following opportunities, namely: (i) direct high–level networking and influence with global entities, (ii) advocacy in shaping continental African policy and trade standards, (iii) priority access to international training and certification programs, (iv) exposure to cutting-edge global engineering practices, (v) connections for major infrastructure business opportunities for our engineering companies, (vi) enhanced career recognition and membership value, (vii) stronger institutional advocacy with the Ugandan government, (viii) career exchange programs for professionals and young engineers.
Currently at Kampala Water (KW), Eng Andrew Muhwezi is the Chief Manager Water Production , while Dr Eng Kalibbala is the Senior Manager Performance Management and Staff Development.
