In his strongly worded letter dated 28 January 2025, the UCC top boss Nyombi Thembo makes it clear that the honeymoon is over regarding the operations of online bully Dean Lubowa Saava. He operates TV10 online but UCC says this is an illegal media outlet because they never licensed it.
Saava has been required to turn up and spend the whole of Monday at UCC headquarters in Bugolobi where his accusers will be lining up with their lawyers to state their case. Inviting him gives him chance to respond in real time while coming face to face with his victims.
Many of them say he has been using TV10 to promote hate speech, disinformation and defamatory content against them and their businesses. UCC had been summoning him but Saava has been defiant, which Nyombi Thembo says is going to create for the YouTuber more problems.
This Monday, 9am has been given to the lawyers of contractor Lutaaya Alex to pin Saava who has to be there and get chance to explain himself but he says he won’t come because in his view UCC is full of ignorant misguided misiles who don’t know what they are doing. Saava says Nyombi Thembo is confused and should be fired.
At 11am, Saava will be facing lawyers representing the Postbank MD who says he defamed and subjected him to disinformation and hate speech using his TV10. At 12pm, it will be Kampala University owner Badru Katerega making his case against Saava.
The UCC boss Nyombi Thembo says this is Saava’s last chance to defend himself or risk being condemned unheard.
UCC could immediately lock up Saava and begin prosecuting him like they did to journalist Sengooba last year for operating without a license or write to youtube asking them to permanently switch off and delete his TV10 channel on grounds of hate speech and disinformation.
Saava says he won’t go there and instead says he will be going to Nakasero market to buy a panga to behead Nyombi Thembo and UCC lawyer Meddie Kaggwa should they not stop investigating him.
Sources close to him say that Saava doesn’t want to go to UCC because he doesn’t know how to defend himself against his complainants yet a lawyer will charge him a lot of money having to spend a whole day in Bugolobi. Otherwise being invited to UCC gives him chance to share the proof and evidence against his accusers since he was always he has a lot of bwiino against each one of them.
Saava will have to organize more money to hire lawyers to represent him in the high court where he faces even more cases of defamation. These have been filed by Joel Ssenyonyi, prisons boss Samuel Emiku, Dr. Emily Kugonza, pastor Ssekisaka of Mutundwe Nalumunye, Postbank MD Namugera Kakeeto, Prof Katerega and Alex Lutaaya just to mention a few.
