Village Journeys Africa in partnership with Uganda AIDS Commission (UAC) yesterday Thursday 7th May celebrated International Candlelight Commemoration Health Camp in Gulu City in preparations for the 2026 Uganda AIDS Marathon.

The health camp carried out HIV testing and counseling, medical eye checks and General health checks by Human Diagnostics team.

There candlelight moments to remember, honour and unite against HIV and also in Commemoration of those who have died of HIV/AIDS. Every year communities around the World gather to commemorate this day.

The candlelight also honor mothers, sisters, grand parents supporting those living with HIV. The activation is covering cities across the country. The Uganda AIDS Marathon is due to take place on 29th November 2026.

The function was graced by Chief Health Officer Gulu – Dr. Daniel Okello, HIV Focal person Amito Florence, Village Journeys Africa CEO Mae Mungati, Uganda AIDS Commission
(UAC) Gulu head – Victor Rwengabo,
Village Journeys eastern and northern Manager, Perez Wandobire and Assistant Resident District Commissioner (RCC) Gulu.

The activations are organized by Village Journeys Africa in partnership with Uganda AIDS Commission (UAC). The Uganda AIDS Marathon is due to take place on 29th November.
