Business & traffic at standstill as Kadaga holds procession in Iganga

Business and traffic were brought to a standstill in Iganga town on July 10th following a gigantic procession by the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of East African Community Affairs, Rt. Hon. Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga.

Kadaga was heading to Iganga district headquarter grounds to launch her campaign to retain the seat for Second National Vice Chairperson (FEMALE) on NRM’s CEC.

In the procession from Bishop Willis Core PTC, Kadaga who is also the Kamuli district Woman MP was accompanied by the State Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development Persis Namuganza.

From Bishop Willis, the Jinja-Iganga highway that passes through Iganga was filled with a procession of thousands of Kadaga’s supporters clad in yellow t-shirts with her picture on them and others holding her campaign posters.

They chanted NRM party slogans, danced to a mix of campaign songs as they headed for the Iganga district headquarter ground.

Prior to the procession, Kadaga first met delegates who included District NRM chairpersons, Women League chairpersons, Women Council chairpersons, Youth chairpersons and elderly council committees among others.

She met them at Bishop Willis Core PTC in Iganga district and thereafter proceeded to launch her campaign at Iganga district headquarter ground in Iganga Municipality.

The delegates promised to rally behind her so that she retains the slot of second National Vice chairperson (FEMALE) on the NRM’s CEC.
