Hon. Kibaaju Charity Kamuhanda Lauds Education Ministry, but questions recommendations

Mbarara City Woman Member of Parliament, Hon. Kibaaju Charity Kamuhanda, has lauded the Ministry of Education and Sports for its efforts to digitalize Uganda’s education system.

Hon. Kibaaju made the remarks during the Equal Opportunities Committee meeting earlier this week.

However, the legislator noted that the recommendation to ensure Wi-Fi in all schools is not all-inclusive and unrealistic. She argued that schools should first be equipped with textbooks and computers before considering full Wi-Fi connectivity.

She further observed that many schools lack computer-literate teachers, giving an example of when she donated computers to Kakoba Muslim Primary School, until she got someone to operate them.

“We can’t run before we walk,” she emphasized.

Hon. Kibaaju Charity Kamuhanda has been instrumental both on the floor of Parliament and on the ground since assuming office following the January 2026 General Elections.
