Kiryandongo District Woman MP Hon. Katusiime Jovia Mbabazi expressed grief and sadness as she attended the burial of three children who lost their lives on Thursday after they struck by lightening.
In response to the growing concern over lightning-related incidents, Hon. Katusiime Jovia Mbabazi while speaking at burial yesterday in Kikuunya Village, Nyakabale Parish, Mboira Sub-county, pledged to engage the Government and other relevant stakeholders to explore ways of providing and installing lightning conductors and lightning arresters in public places, particularly schools, health centres, churches, mosques and other vulnerable community facilities. She emphasized the need for preventive measures to protect lives and reduce the risks associated with lightning strikes in Kiryandongo District.
The three children, from the same family, were: Anirwot Santina Middle Class, Natsha Top Class, Arnold Sentumbwe Top Class and studying at Kizibu Junior Nursery School
The tragic lightning strike affected six children. Sadly, three lost their lives at the scene, while the other three were rushed to hospital for medical attention.

Today i joined the bereaved family and residents of Kikuunya Village, Nyakabale Parish, Mboira Sub-county, Kiryandongo District, to mourn and attend the burial of three children who tragically lost their lives after being struck by lightning on Thursday. I extend my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, relatives, friends, teachers and the entire community during this difficult and painful moment. I expresse deep sorrow over the loss of the young lives and prayed for strength, comfort and healing for all those affected by this heartbreaking tragedy.
