Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa advises Parents to take their children to NIRA for registration

The Deputy Speaker of Parliament Rt Hon. Thomas Tayebwa has advised to take their children to NIRA for registration. This comes after he was briefed that close to 13 million have not been registered.

While his new National ID, Rt.Hon. Thomas Tayebwa called on parents to spare time to take your children for registration adding that.. in the coming years, without an ID, it will be difficult to access government services.

He commended NIRA for the work they are doing but encouraged them to set up the nearest collection centres at the nearest possible locations.

“When I received a notification that my National ID was ready, I decided to collect it at NIRA headquarters today. The new ID looks much better compared to the old one. I hope everyone who has received it agrees with me.

I commend NIRA for the great work it is doing to deliver IDs quickly. However, I encourage them to set up collection centres at the nearest possible locations within communities especially parish level. This will help reduce the costs and inconvenience people face when traveling long distances to pick up their IDs, which often discourages them. I would like to encourage all Ugandans to collect your IDs because an ID is a gateway to accessing government services. The Executive Director informed me that about 13 million children have not yet been registered. Dear parents, spare time to take your children for registration. In the coming years, without an ID, it will be difficult to access government services,” Rt Hon. Thomas Tayebwa said.
