Uthuman Katerega Mwanadamu

Part 1

Mr. Uthuman Katerega Mwanadamu is a proud son of Mawogola West – vibrant, and deeply rooted in the struggles and strength of the area people.

As the incoming Member of Parliament under the NRM banner, he brings fresh energy, tested leadership, and a practical vision to transform the constituency from the ground up. “Ours is a land of hardworking farmers, traders, mothers, and youth – a land full of potential that has waited too long to be unlocked”.

His mission is simple but powerful: to serve every village, every voice, and every dream. He will champion modern farming, create youth employment through skills and innovation, improve
health services, and push for better roads and water access across all sub-counties. He believes in politics that delivers-not just promises.

“With your trust, we will connect our people to opportunity, restore dignity to every home, and make Mawogola West a model for rural transformation. Together, we rise. Together, we build. Mawogola West tugiggye mu ddubi,” he said.

Who is Uthuman
Hon. Uthuman Katerega Mwanadamu is a brand and marketing professional, a T bring with me the f Mawogola
passionate community mobiliser, and a proud son of Mawo West. He has energy of youth, the discipline of professionalism, and the vision of a leader who has built brands, businesses, and people. I have always believed that leadership is not about titles, but
about results, and this belief fuels his mission to serve.

Over the years, he has used his branding and communication skills to unite voices, promote growth, and drive impactful campaigns from empowering farmers to pushing for climate
action. He has helped individuals, groups, and communities see their worth and position themselves for success.

Now, he is stepping forward to do the same for Mawogola West-not
just as their MP but as their servant and partner in transformation.

Why is he Running for MP, Mawogola West Constituency?

Mawogola West deserves a leader who listens, understands, and delivers. For too long, people have worked hard but gained little, produced much but earned less. The roads, schools, and youth have waited too long for real opportunity.

“I am running because I believe in a Mawogola where every family can earn with dignity, where every child can learn with hope, and where our economy and culture thrive hand in hand. With a solid foundation in strategy, communication, and grassroots mobilisation, I am prepared to lead a movement that restores pride, unlocks potential, and delivers results. My campaign is rooted in community ownership, cooperative empowerment, and practical solutions. Together, we will turn every road, every garden, every village into a story of
progress. This is not politics as usual. This is people-powered, purpose-driven leadership. And together, we rise,” he says.

What he plans to do

Mawogola West has thousands of energetic, talented young people, but many of them lack
structured opportunities to express their potential. With limited sports infrastructure, few organised competitions, and no real investment in talent development, many youths are left
idle, and often drift into alcoholism, crime, early parenting and eventually hopelessness.

He strongly believes that even a youth from the humblest home can rise if opportunity meets support. In every village and parish, there is talent waiting to shine. Through school
competitions, local sports clubs, and programs like the Masaza Cup, we are building platforms for discovery. He will link these grassroots efforts to national scouts, scholarships, and international opportunities. No gifted youth should be left behind because of poverty. “We will invest in training camps, equipment, and transport to remove every barrier. Talent
doesn’t ask where you were born, it only asks for a chance to be seen. When we support young talent, we empower entire families and uplift communities,”.

“Determination is all they need we will open the door. As your MP, I will support talent and turn it into victory for
Mawogola and Uganda. Hon. Uthuman Katerega Mwanadamu will make sports a vehicle for youth empowerment, community unity, and local development in Mawogola West and put Sembabule on the national map. “We shall raise champions from the fields of Mawogola West – not just for trophies, but for unity, jobs, and pride. Sports is not a game but our tool for youth transformation.

He will implement structured Parish-Level Sports Activation to ensure no youth is left behind in the development journey. Every parish in Mawogola West will be mobilized to form official
youth teams in football, netball, athletics, and volleyball, with special attention to involving both boys and girls.

These teams will receive basic sports kits – including balls, jerseys, goalposts, nets, and whistles- to enable regular training and competition. This is not just a promise; it is something we have already started through the Mwana Damu Tournament, where every team
was fully dressed and trained. That was just the beginning.

He will build on this foundation by ensuring ongoing training, mentorship, and inter-parish engagement, so that youth in every village can feel seen, supported, and part of something
bigger. These parish-level teams will also feed into the constituency league and provide a strong talent pipeline for district and national representation.
Our goal is to turn parishes into active youth energy, discipline, and excellence hubs – using sports as the spark for transformation.

He will establish a vibrant annual Constituency-Wide Sports League to engage youth, promote unity, and nurture talent across Mawogola West. This league will feature inter-parish
competitions in football, netball, and athletics, ensuring participation from every corner of the constituency – from villages to trading centers.
Each parish will field teams that will compete in zonal qualifiers, leading up to a constituency- wide grand finale. To ensure sustainability, we will partner with local businesses and. stakeholders to provide sponsorships, uniforms, trophies, and branding opportunities
turning the league into a community-owned platform.

The grand finals will be more than just sports– they will be community festivals.
“We shall include live music performances by local artists, free health camps for HIV testing, cancer
Screening, and maternal health, and economic exhibitions where youth and women showcase and sell their products”

This holistic approach will transform the sports league into a driver of health, income, unity, and pride while acting as a scouting ground for district-and national-level talent.

To provide the youth with the best opportunities for training and competition, he will lobby
the Ministry of Education and Sports to upgrade at least two major playgrounds within Mawogola West into fully functional community mini-stadiums.

These upgraded facilities will
include basic stands, changing rooms, and proper lighting for evening games and training. This will provide a safe and professional space for youth sports and create venues that can host district-wide competitions and attract sponsors.

Additionally, we will partner with local schools to establish a dual-use agreement for their playgrounds, ensuring that these spaces are available for school sports and youth training
programs. This will maximize the utility of existing infrastructure, provide year-round training opportunities for the youth, and make sports more accessible to all.

This initiative will create modern, community-centered sports hubs that can host various local and regional events, boosting sports development and community engagement.

He will link local teams with qualified coaches, referees, and district-level sports leaders to nurture the next generation of sports stars. This connection will ensure that every team
receives proper training, guidance, and the opportunity to grow under the mentorship of seasoned professionals. We will also introduce coaching workshops for local mentors,
empowering them to support youth athletes at all levels effectively.

In addition, he will create the Rwebitakuli Youth Sports Fund, designed to provide financial assistance to outstanding young athletes, with a special focus on girls and differently abled youth. This fund will help these talented individuals gain access to professional academies,
where they can refine their skills, earn scholarships, and eventually pursue careers in national and international sports.

By providing both coaching expertise and financial support, we will create a comprehensive sports development program that identifies raw talent and nurtures it to its full potential.

EDUCATION: VOCATIONAL TRAINING AND YOUTH EMPOWERMENT

Many parents in Rwebitakuli have children who dropped out of school – some due to poverty, teenage pregnancy, or lack of direction. Most families don’t know what to do next, especially
when it comes to the girl child. That’s why we are proposing a Vocational Training, empowerment and Apprenticeship Centre to give these young people a second chance
through skills that lead to income, independence, and dignity.

He will champion the establishment of fully equipped vocational training and
apprenticeship centre in Rwebitakuli focused on providing our youth with practical, income- generating skills. In partnership with the Ministry of Education, private sector players, and NGOS, this center will become a skills hub for the region.

The training programs will include hands-on courses in carpentry, welding, tailoring, bakery, hairdressing, plumbing, motor vehicle mechanics, ICT, and mobile phone repair. These trades
are in real demand, both locally and in urban centers.
He will negotiate internship and job placement agreements with businesses in Masaka, Mbarara, and Kampala to ensure our graduates get work experience and employment
opportunities beyond the classroom.

The centre will offer short, certified courses lasting 3-6 months. Top-performing students will receive startup tool kits, ranging from sewing machines and toolboxes to baking ovens or salon
kits, to begin their own businesses immediately.

This is not just education it’s economic empowerment. It’s how we build self-reliance, reduce unemployment, and secure a future where no youth is left behind.
This technical support helps improve yields, quality, and consistency, key factors when dealing with export markets. Cooperatives make it
easier to organize these trainings and share knowledge widely across villages.
Financial Empowerment & Savings
Registered and legal Cooperatives with systems offer a safe and trusted platform for savings, credit access, and group financing. Members can borrow at lower interest rates, invest in farm
inputs, or handle emergencies without selling their produce cheaply. This financial cushion empowers farmers to plan better and invest in their families- building decent homes, accessing healthcare, and sending children to good schools. Savings groups within
cooperatives also build discipline and foster a culture of long-term investment.

WOMEN AND THE Environment
In Mawogola West, many mothers wake up before sunrise, walk long distances to collect firewood, and spend hours in smoky kitchens -just to put food on the table. But this daily struggle is costing us more than we realise. The smoke damages their lungs. The firewood
destroys our forests. And the time they lose could have been used to start a business, rest, or care for their children. This is not just a women’s issue -it is a family and community crisis.
That’s why I launched the PGB Gas Campaign – to bring affordable and clean cooking solutions right into the heart of our villages. We will expand this to every parish, establishing gas access points and community cooperatives so that even low-income homes can switch
from charcoal and firewood to clean energy. Gas stoves are faster to light, easier to use, and safer for children. One gas cylinder can save dozens of trees that would otherwise be cut down
to make just one bag of charcoal.
Deforestation isn’t just an environmental issue-it’s a threat to our way of life. When we lose trees, our water dries up, our cattle suffer, and our gardens fail. Protecting nature begins in
the kitchen. Clean cooking saves our women’s time, protects their health, preserves our forests, and feeds our families with dignity.

This is not a promise, it is a plan already in motion. And with your support, we shall expand it until no woman in Mawogola West has to suffer in smoke again, but champion efforts to protect our environment.

To be continued...
