2026 Updates: Meet Sarah Lwansasula,The NUP Jinja City Woman MP Aspirant with an on ground edge over her competitors
Grassroots Mobilization, Women Empowerment, and Community Development Set Her Apart
As the race for the National Unity Platform (NUP) ticket for Jinja City Woman MP heats up, one aspirant stands out for her relentless grassroots engagement and tangible community impact and her name is Ms Sarah Lwansasula.
She has built a strong reputation as a hands-on leader, actively working with women’s groups, fixing broken boreholes, and addressing key community needs long before declaring her political ambitions.
The current board member representing the Old Girls of Nakanyonyi Girls school and president of the Rotary club of Kirinya Bukasa has a deep connection with the people of Jinja City giving her a clear advantage as the party leadership prepares to select its flag bearer.
“Sarah doesn’t just talk; she acts,” says Nakato Betty, a market vendor in Masese. “She helped our savings group access a loan facilities, and now many of us are running successful businesses.”
Access to clean water remains a major challenge in parts of Jinja City. While other aspirants make promises, Lwansasula has taken action repairing broken boreholes in areas like Walukuba, Mpumudde, and Bugembe. Her interventions have brought relief to hundreds of families who previously struggled with water scarcity.

“We waited for years for leaders to help us, but it was Sarah who mobilized resources and fixed our borehole,” said an elder in Walukuba. “How can we not support someone who has already served us?”
Grassroots Mobilization & Popular Support
Beyond projects, Lwansasula’s door-to-door engagement style has endeared her to voters. She listens to their concerns, attends local meetings, and has built a strong volunteer network a factor that could prove decisive in a tightly contested NUP primary.
As NUP leadership evaluates candidates, Lwansasula’s track record of service, women’s empowerment, and community development makes her a compelling choice. Her ability to mobilize support on the ground positions her as a formidable contender in the general election.
“The people of Jinja City want a leader who understands their struggles and has already shown commitment,” Lwansasula said. “I am that leader, and with the NUP’s support, we shall bring real change.”
