2026 Updates: Achievements of Hon. Andrew Baryayanga Aja, aspiring Kabale Municipality Member of Parliament
As 2026 gets closer, we are highlighting the achievements and plans of those intending to contest have or done.
Today, we bring you what Hon. Andrew Baryayanga Aja has done as he prepares to contest again in 2026.
He was the Dean of independent in the 10th parliament.
He lobbied for reduction of electricity power tarrifs from 980 shs to 680-700 shs per unit. He was one of the core members of the adhoc committee that checked the excesses in the electricity sector.

He was one of the movers of the motion to waive water and electricity bills for the citizens during the COVID-19 pandemic.
He ably served on Natural Resources, National Economy and COSASE Committees in parliament where he lobbied services to kabale municipality.
He lobbied more funding from USMID to construct more roads in Kabale Municipality.
He lobbied in the central government to construct the current fully tarmacked road from katuna Road round about to Rwakaraba.
He was among the stakeholders who passionately lobbied for Kabale University to get a public university status.
He was very instrumental in getting Kabale on the districts to get a city status.
He lobbied for funds to construct a modern Hi-Tech market in Kabale, which is now complete.
He also voted NO against OTT well, knowing the importance of the Internet in today’s modern life.
Community work
Infrastructure
He contributed towards the construction and maintenance of Burungi- Bwansi roads across the municipality.
He contributed to the re- construction of Kigongi – Rushaki, Rwagana- Bushuro, Nyangande- Mwisi temporary bridges in the absence of permanent structures.
Aja contributed to the Kigongi Bataka community water & sanitation project construction.
He contributed to Kashanje gravity water scheme renovations in Kijuguta parish.
Continuously contributed to Bugongi gravity water maintenance works .
Worked on water springs Emigera ( Karubanda, Rushaki, Nyakambu, kijuguta, Bugongi, Butobere, Konyo).
He Contributed to electricity polls in Rushaki in a bid to bring power closer to the people.
Education & Sports
He obbied for computer training services where over 300 youth were beneficiaries.
Hosted annual Aja Cup Tournament bringing together different teams from over municiparity to develop their talents , gave them generous awards/ prizes to the winners, All teams got jazzes & financial support.
He organized bicycle races for all people, including PWD’s ( bicycles & athletics).
Supported Kigezi Home Boys and he is the founder member of Kigezi Home Boys FC.
He supported secondary schools in post primary games with truck suits, uniforms, balls , etc
Agriculture
Hon. Aja donated chapa nkoko hoes to each household in Kabale Municipality.
He consistently distributed maize & bean seeds to all residents of Kabale municipality every planting season.
He distributed coffee seedlings to farmers in the municipality.
Health Sector
He constructed Rutooma Health C2 out patient shade.
He donated incubators to kabale Hospital & Kamukira HC4.
Donated blankets & beds to Kamukira Maternity ward .
Donated blankets – food relief to Kabale Regional Hospital.
Other notables
Contributed to the construction of prayer houses and church projects in every worship place regardless of his religious affiliation.
He consistently stood with his people in good and bad times.
