The Uganda National Cultural Center (UNCC) has opted to put musicians known for vulgar content, namely Gravity Omutujju and Lil Pazo, on a blacklist. This decision follows their failure to appear for discussions with the committee at the national theatre yesterday.
During the meeting, Phina Mugerwa, the Vice Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, emphasized the necessity for individuals to recognize organizations that are tasked with organizing and regulating art and the creative sector in the country. The absence of these artists left the committee with no choice but to make various determinations.

She mentioned that they have come to the conclusion to blacklist these artists from having their songs broadcasted on various media outlets. Furthermore, the Police have been informed, and these musicians will be required to give statements. Additionally, any event promoter who books these musicians will not receive the necessary clearance.

“It is crucial for everyone to grasp that there are governing associations in the art sector. The failure of the artists we summoned to attend this dialogue has forced us to blacklist them from receiving airplay across media platforms. The Police have also been alerted to ask them for statements. Furthermore, any promoter who engages these artists will not obtain Police clearance,” she stated.
She cautioned female musicians who have been known to appear in a state of nudity to refrain from doing so, as it infringes on women’s rights. Additionally, she assured that there will be appropriate measures taken against such behavior moving forward.
