    Pictorial: The Annual Green Festival rocks Millennium Grounds Lugogo

    The annual Green Festival for kids came back with a bang yesterday at Millennium Grounds Lugogo. The festival organized by Uganda’s Little Hands Go Green of Joseph Masembe saw thousands of kids turn for the fun filled event.

    It was a wonderful opportunity for kids to reconnect and have fun with their friends as they celebrate their shared commitment to conservation of the environment.

    “Together, as one big green family, we continue to nurture a healthier and greener future,” Said Joseph Masembe.

    Each kid who attended left with a tree seed to plant as part of an effort to conserve to regreen Uganda.

    Joseph Masembe reechoed the call for Local Action and Global Vision as a continuous journey of passion, love, and dedication towards a green and healthy future.

    Divas Spice Diana and Kasita Karole entertained the excite kids who were fresh from hectic second term studies.

    The next event is the Green Festival Christmas party which will take place in December.

    Uganda’s Little Hands Go Green presents the Green Festival 2024!
    This amazing event, filled with fun, education, and eco-friendly activities, will take place on 1st September 2024, from 9 AM to 6 PM at Lugogo Grounds.

    What to Expect:

    Thousands of Kids’ Games: Enjoy a variety of games designed to entertain and educate the young ones.
    There will also be entertainers including top musicians.

    Climate and Environmental Teachings: Engage with interactive sessions that will inspire the next generation to protect our planet.

    Free Fruit Tree: Every child will receive a fruit tree to plant and nurture, promoting green living from an early age.

    Participating Certificates: Every child who takes part will receive a certificate recognizing their role as a Green Ambassador.

    Riham applauds Uganda’s Little Hands Go Green on environment

    Soft drink makers Riham Uganda has praised Uganda’s Little Hands Go Green for teaching children about preserving the environment.

    The Climate Change March 2023 was flagged off by Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa. Participants walked 2kms around Kampala in show of solidarity for environment protection.

    Uganda’s Little Hands Go Green headed by environment protection General Joseph Masembe has been preaching how to preserve environment among the children for the last 15 years or so.

    “We would like to applaud the work being done by Uganda’s Little Hands Go Green and all its other partners in ensuring that our children learn about the need to conserve our environment for a better future. #ClimateChangeMarch,” Riham tweeted.

    Green Festival preparations in high spirits

    Preparations are in high spirits for the eagerly awaited annual Green Festival Chocolate edition set for 3rd September at Kololo Airstrip.

    The Green festival chocolate edition on 3rd September 2017 at Kololo Airstrip is powered by Karen Tendo Fun Facts Corner, My Kid is a Superstar, National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) Uganda, Pink Foods Industries, Movit, NBS Television and Capital FM Uganda.

    Uganda’s Little Hands Go Green CEO Joseph Masembe said the day will be a fun filled one with several kids activities including bouncing castles, zoo, performances by kids, singers and other activities that entertain kids.

    Entrance fee is 10k for each kid and free for adults.

    NEMA, Jovrine Kaliisa, Uganda’s Little Hands Go Green clean up Ibanda town

    National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) yesterday Saturday 3rd June 2017 teamed up with Uganda Little Hands Go Green, District Woman MP for Ibanda Hon. Jovrine Kaliisa and Ibanda Lord Mayor to clean up Ibanda Town ahead of World Environment Day Celebrations slated for Monday 5th June 2017.

    The main celebrations will take place in Ibanda and the clean is part of the preparations for the big do.

    As part of the celebrations, NEMA together with Uganda’s Little Hands Go Green organized Ibanda Run which held today morning in Ibanda town.

    The run was aimed at creating awareness on how to protect and preserve the environment.

    Ibanda District Woman MP Hon Jovrine Kaliisa Kyomukama as part of Monday celebrations, she visited her former school St. Hellen Primary School where she planted trees with Uganda’s Little Hands Go Green.

    She urged pupils to plant trees as a way of protecting environment.

    World Environment Day celebrations flagged off

    Yesterday June 1st 2017, The state Minister for Environment Hon Kitutu Kimono, the ED NEMA Dr Tom Okurut, the Woman MP for Ibanda Hon. Jovin Kaliisa and the CEO Little Hands Go Green Joseph Masembe flagged off the World Environment Day Celebration Caravan at the NEMA Offices in Kampala.

    The team that set off will be planting trees along the route to Ibanda as part of the drive to bring to life this year’s World Environment Day theme of “Connect With Nature”.

    The team has so far planted trees in Mpigi, and Buwama as well as Nkozi and other areas as they head to Ibanda for the main celebration on Monday.

    Mpigi UMEA primary school, St Kizito Mpigi primary school are some of the schools that have joined this noble cause so far.

    There will be a series of activities ahead of WED 2017 where the president will be the chief guest. Tree planting activities in Mbarara, Masaka and Ibanda. An Environmental Run in Ibanda on Sunday among others.

    Green Army calls for tough measures to protect the environment

    Pupils and students from over 40 schools who attended the 4th International Children’s Climate Change Conference (ICCCC) 2017 and Earth Day at Kampala International School Uganda (KISU) yesterday (Saturday) called on the authorities to put tough measures to protect and preserve nature.

    Children who presented said there is a need to fight encroachments on swamps, forests, rivers and lakes as well as national parks if nature is to be preserved.

    “Using less paper saves trees. When you have to print, use less paper by printing on both pages” – Rudra from Kampala Parents School reasoned out.

    The Minister of State for Environment Hon. Kitutu Kimono Mary Goretti who was the chief guest called on pupils to plant more trees to be able to make the environment greener.

    “I am playing a practical role. Today, I brought trees for you to take home and make your environment greener,” Minister Kitutu said.

    She said the government is putting tough measures to fight encroachments on nature and as directed by the president, all people who encroached on swamps and forests are to vacate by July this year.

    Hon. Kitutu closed off the conference with tree planting exercise to show a practical example to pupils of what they should do.

    “Industries benefit from the environment. They should plant trees and protect water bodies to reverse their effect. As NEMA, our goal is to ensure that wetlands which are not yet touched remain like that”

    “Everybody is a custodian for wetlands for the common good. Ownership is for all Ugandans,” Deputy Director National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) Uganda.

    Steve Lang, Director of Kampala International School Uganda (KISU)told children at the conference, “Do more than our generation did to protect environment, this is your time to act,”

    Delegation from Rwanda’s Little Go Green also attended the conference and challenged the Ugandan government to do more and fight against environment degradation. They reasoned out why the government has failed to completely ban use of polythene bag like it is in Rwanda.

    Joseph Masembe, the Uganda’s Little Hands Go Green boss said he was happy to see a massive attendance at the conference and said the future is in the hands of young generation. Uganda’s Little Hands Go Green partnered with Kampala International School Uganda, National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC), National Forestry Authority (NFA), National Environment Management Authority (NEMA), Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) and NBS Television to organise the successful conference.

    The schools slated to participate in International Children’s Climate Change Conference (CCCC) 2017 happening this Saturday 22nd April at Kampala International School Uganda (KISU) have been revealed.

    The Schools are Yudesi Primary School, Buganda Road Primary School, Nakasero Primary, Royal primary Mityana, Namagunga Girls, City Parents, Queen of Peace Rubaga, Namirembe Parents, Kisuule Primary School, Trinity, Taibah International School, Galaxy International, Hill side, Kampala Parents, Mirembe Junior, Green Hill Academy, Kampala quality, Silverspoon School, St Agnes Academy. Over 40 schools including the School for the deaf are set to take part.

    The International Children’s Climate Change Conference 2017 will take place in partnership with Kampala International School Uganda, National Environment Management Authority (NEMA), Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA), National Forestry Authority (NFA), Earth Day Network and NBS Television.

    Uganda’s Little Hands Go Green boss, Joseph Masembe said that over 40 top schools in Uganda and representing different countries across the globe will be presenting their views on climate change joined by a special 15 child delegation from Rwanda courtesy of Rwanda’s Little Hands Go Green.

    Green army to discuss Environmental and Climate Literacy at ICCCC

    Uganda Little Hands Go Green and My Kid is a Superstar green armies together with their partners are organizing 4th International Children’s Climate Change Conference (ICCCC) to discuss environment and climate literacy. This year, the annual one day conference will be hosted by Kampala International School Uganda (KISU) on Saturday 22nd April 2017.

    “We have serious challenges regarding climate change, unsustainable use of natural resources, water scarcity, loss of biodiversity, forests and farmland. Not to mention the huge inequality still prevailing in several parts of the planet. Climate change is a very real threat right now to our economy, the future of our children, to our way of life. On Saturday 22nd April at Kampala International School Uganda will be the International Children’s Climate Change Conference #ICCCC2017,” Uganda Little Go Green posted.

    Over 300 children delegates from over 40 schools, different nationalities and backgrounds are expected to grace the global do. The theme of the conference which aims at encouraging children to preserve the environment will run under the theme ‘Environmental and Climate Literacy’.

    The conference which also seeks to empower youngsters with enough knowledge about the environment and climate change coincides with the global celebration of World Earth Day.

    Uganda’s Little Hands Go Green has a mission to inspire a patriotic nationwide culture of “Our Environment is Our Future and Our Future is Our responsibility” by creating a mass hysteria of tree planting by children both at school and at home.

    “What we are about is sowing the seeds of environmental propriety in the children and teaching them that owning up to and taking care of their environment is their responsibility,” Joseph Masembe said.

    This year’s conference is in partnership with The National Forestry Authority (NFA), Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA), Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA), MilkMan and Rwanda’s Little Hands Go Green and other more are expected on board.

    Rwanda’s Little Hands Go Green launched

    Uganda’s Little Hands Go Green have extended to neigbhouring Rwanda and yesterday 4th February 2017, the project was finally launch in Kigali.

    Rwanda’s Little Hands Go Green was born as the Green Army took over Kigali Deployment yesterday with children participating in different Green Family activities like tree planting and plays on how to preserve climate.

    Uganda’s Little Hands Go Green and Rwanda Environment Management Authority (REMA) made things happen.

    “Oops we did it again. And we did it in style. Welcome to this earth Rwanda’s Little Hands Go Green. Thanks to Hope Academy Rwanda, Rwanda Environment Management Authority (REMA), Earth and Child, Joseph Masembe Semakula Samuel, Haki Dorothy, Netron Matt, Camila Wangoi Wanjohi, My Kid is a Superstar,” Rwanda’s Little Hands Go Green posted.

    Uganda/Rwanda’s Little Hands Go Green CEO, Joseph Masembe said he is pleased and extremely happy to launch in Rwanda. “This shows how strong we are becoming in the region,” he added.
