Uganda’s Little Hands Go Green appreciates the school

Rainbow International School Uganda (RISU) has ended academic year on a high note. The school closed today afternoon at a colourful assembly with musical performances from both primary and secondary sections.

Uganda’s Little Hands Go Green used the opportunity to offer certificate of appreciation to the school for the great work they are doing in education.

The assembly had it all – musical performances from Primary and Secondary sections, appreciation certificates from Little Hands Go Green Uganda, recognition of outstanding students and much more. All is set for the Kids’ Green Festival

The annual Kids’ Green Festival is back and promises to be the best ever this year. The festival organised by Uganda’s Little Hands Go Green will take place on 21st August 2016 at Kololo Airstrip and all roads lead there on that very day.

NEMA teams up with Uganda’s Little Hands Go Green to celebrate World Environment Day with massive tree planting

This was on Monday during the celebration to mark World Environment Day at the national celebrations in Gulu.

“The Kidepo project aims at strengthening the management effectiveness of Kidepo Valley National Park and the surrounding protected areas including central and local forest reserves as well as protecting the shea butter trees” – Executive Director NEMA Okurut said.

Before national celebrations, NEMA teamed with Uganda’s Little Hands Go Green to plant trees from Kampala to Gulu. The trees were planted along Kampala – Gulu Highway.

This is seen as one of promoting nature and making the entire population preservers of nature.

ICCCC calls for tougher measures to avert climate change

Rainbow International School Uganda (RISU) yesterday successfully hosted the third annual International Children’s Climate Change Conference (ICCCC) at their campus in Kansanga.

Over 500 students participated in the conference organised by Uganda’s Little Hands Go Green and My Kid Is A Superstar under theme ‘When Water Slows, Trees Die’.

Children presented measures on how to curb global warming and maintain nature. The schools participated in a debate that saw them give ideas on how to tackle climate change problem.

The event mainly sponsored by Midland Group of companies happened at a time environmental degradation has reached alarming levels and poses a real threat not only to the existence of flora and fauna but also to the very existence and substance of human life on planet earth.

In Uganda over the years, there has been prolonged drought, El-Nino rains, landslides and other effects of climate change brought about by man’s activities such as charcoal burning, clearing of forests and wetlands.

Speaker from speaker brought issues of climate change and environmental conservation closer to youth of Uganda in order to create awareness from an early age.

“The only way we can save our environment is through such activities and using young generation because they are our future, we must create love for nature in them in order for them to encourage and inspire others,” Joseph Masembe CEO of Uganda’s Little Hands Go Green said.

“We must make sure that environment is protected and preserved to have proper living. A conference like this grooms young generation on the importance of nature and that’s why we as Midland Group of Companies joined Uganda’s Little Hands Go Green and we shall support them as long as we can,” Drashna Kotecha, Director of Rainbow said.

At the event, students engaged in productive debates, discussions, competitions and presentations on various topics of climate change. Students also engaged in tree planting as a sign of preserving the environment.

Children prepare for the ICCCC as World Leaders prepare for Paris

This Friday 22th April 2016, Rainbow International School will play host to the third International Climate Change Conference for Children (ICCCC).

As World leaders prepare to head for Paris, the future leaders prepare to head to Rainbow International School ahead of the International Children’s Climate Change Conference 2016 organised by Uganda’s Little Hands Go Green. The conference will bring together children of different nationalities discussing and debating theme for this year ‘When Water Slows, Trees Die’.

Other key note speakers include Dr Tom Okia Okurut, Executive Director of National Environment Management Authority of Uganda (NEMA) and Mrs. Drashna Kotecha, the Director of Rainbow International School and Midland Group as well as other many speakers.

The event is being organized by Uganda’s Little Hands Go Green and My Kid is a Superstar in partnership with Vivo Energy Uganda, National Environment Management Authority (NEMA), National Forestry Authority (NFA) and the National Council for Children.

In a related development, United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has invited all world leaders to a signing ceremony on 22nd April for the historic climate agreement that was reached in Paris in December last year. The signing event will take place at UN Headquarters in New York on the first day the agreement will be open for signature, which coincides with the observance of International Mother Earth Day, observed in many countries as simply Earth Day.

Swimathon officially launched by Uganda’s Little Hands Go Green

Uganda’s Little Hands Go Green today joined Rainbow International School and launched the first ever Swimathon to raise money for Tree seedlings as two also launched the International Climate Change Conference 2016 that takes place on Earth Day 22nd April.

Children from all over and their parents and well wishers joined in to swim and raised money to buy tree seedlings. “We are upping the game and ensuring that saving Mother Nature, our environment and ultimately our future is our own responsibility. Stay blessed and keep it Green,” Joseph Masembe said.

Climate Change International Conference set for April

The third International Climate Change Conference for Children this year has been confirmed. The Conference will take place on Friday 22nd April 2016. Rainbow International School will play host to the third International Climate Change Conference for Children.

The fun filled event will see children act and teach other on how to preserve nature. International and local Climate speakers are expected to grace the conference to spread gospel of how to preserve and protect climate.

First family commends Joseph Masembe’s Green Xmas Party

Joseph Masembe’s green army beat all other parties On Sunday as it was early Christmas for Kampala kids during the Green Kids Christmas Party 2015 which brought Kololo Airstrip and neighborhood to a standstill.

Crowds enjoyed entertainment from Sheebah Karungi, Sitya Loss kids, DJ Roja, DJ Shiru and others. Uganda’s Little Hands Go Green and My Kid Is A Superstar have so far planted over 100,000 fruit trees at different schools, offices and homesteads across the country.
