    Nairobi, Kenya: After a streak of chart-topping singles, the sensational voice in Afro-pop, Teni, is back with her highly anticipated album, “TEARS OF THE SUN.”

    Released on November 17th through Platoon, the 16-track LP promises to captivate Kenyan audiences with its diverse and celebratory sound.

    The album opens with the autobiographical track, “YBGFA (Young Black Girl From Africa),” a moving tale of Teni’s roots featuring delicate piano and sublime vocal melodies. The feel-good anthem “LANKE,” produced by the award-winning Blaisebeatz, sets the celebratory tone, while the megahit “NO DAYS OFF” approaches four million streams and has been recognized by Rolling Stone as one of the Best Songs of 2023 So Far.

    “TEARS OF THE SUN” is a sonic journey that showcases Teni’s stunning vocal talents, complemented by sunny funk guitars and blissed-out synth arrangements. From sultry numbers like “DEVIL DANCE” to uptempo dance tunes like “CONTROL” and the recent single “MALAIKA,” the album promises a blend of styles that will resonate with Kenyan music enthusiasts.

    With production credits from industry giants such as Blaisebeats, Rymez, Debonair Dessy, Kukbeat, Yung Willis, Extremebetz, and more, “TEARS OF THE SUN” is a sprawling masterpiece of uplifting Afropop.

    Reflecting on the album, Teni shares, “Life is a beautiful journey of ups, downs, highs, and lows. ‘TEARS OF THE SUN’ has taught me about life and brought many blessings. I’m grateful to be a vessel in this world. People come and go, but remember your time around the sun will surely come, and mine is here and here to stay.”

    This release follows the success of Teni’s collaboration on ‘MAITAMA (Going)’ last year and a recent rework of Bob Marley & The Wailers’ classic ‘Three Little Birds’ with Oxlade. Teni’s debut on COLORS, featuring on Stormzy’s latest album ‘This Is What I Mean,’ and previous collaborations with Wizkid and Davido have solidified her reputation as a standout artist in the Afro-pop scene.

    Video: Babaritah impresses with Amapiano style in new jam “Tusimbudde”

    Babaritah dishes it out fast, quickly releasing a second song this year “Tusimbudde”.

    Produced by Babaritah’s most time producer ‘Skills on the beat’, “Tusimbudde” and its accompanying video elucidates a special time to splash ‘dime’ with celebrations and parties.

    Written by Dokta Brain, the lyrics too blow it up with words sparking good vibes and dancing moods.

    “Its all about starting the party moods, enjoyment, searching for good vibes. Throw on your best attire and let’s go partying till dawn. Please tell me where the killer party is happening,” Babaritahsaid.

    The visuals by Editunez (Klip Filmz Visual) have also been released for Babaritah’s Afro inspired “Tusimbudde”.

    However, it’s infused with the arrangements of Amapiano sound, a style of house music that emerged in South Africa in 2012 and currently most adopted style of music worldwide.

    “I loved to make the trending Amapiano. Alsosome dancehall which is my favorite. The words to, just fell in love with them as they are attached to girls, Uganda, praty animals,” Babaritah adds.

    The song’s compelling visuals have already been dubbed one of the best from the continent this year by fans and has proven an unprecedented favorite.

    Babaritah also vows to keep her fans accupied this year with more music than ever before.

    South Africa’s Mi Casa teams up with Berlin-Based Production duo YouNotUs to bring us “Chucks”

    Mi Casa has teamed up with Berlin-based production duo YouNotUs to bring us the 5th official single from their 2020 ‘We Made It’ album, the long-awaited tribute to living well – “Chucks”.

    The South African band kick straight back after the huge success of their smash hit “Mamela” with their first international collab since signing their international record deal with Afroforce1 Records/Universal Music Group.

    Earmarked as an important song from the album off the bat, “Chucks” has been waiting in the wings for the right time to bring some of that Mi Casa spirit back into the party feels. And with the YouNotUs collab, the result is a dance floor’s dream.

    Mi Casa front man J’Something has always held a special place in his heart for the track, “It’s about making the most of every single moment because the future is not a given – all we have is right now and that time needs to be lived,” he states.

    Having the opportunity to collaborate with international, multi-platinum EDM front-runners YouNotUs is an example of where Mi Casa’s musical ambition has seen them reach. “Getting the YouNotUs touch to “Chucks” has completely transformed it and we cannot wait to see how it lifts people’s spirits and hopefully it will land on fertile soil,” adds J’Something.

    Luckily for technology the two acts were able to collaborate completely remotely during lockdown and working with the Mi Casa track brought out all the summer feelings in the Berlin-based act.

    “During the production we were inspired by the longing for warm summer nights spent partying. We feel this song will guide us back into summer and a more carefree time,” Tobias and Gregor from YouNotUs state.

    While “Chucks” is a springtime release in Europe, it catches Africa’s magical summer times, dragging out some good times as life starts to return to normal in venues and on dancefloors around the country.

    “Chucks” will be released in Europe, South Africa and parts of the African continent on the 26th March, with the video due for release two weeks later. YouNotUs will be flying out to shoot the video alongside Mi Casa right in Namibia. Prepare for the party anthem of 2021 with YouNotUs X Mi Casa – Chucks.

    Ahead of the release TRESOR said, “I love the Nigerian female name Fola Sade.
