    SU: Who is Hady Sengo?

    Hady Sengo: I was born on 17th October 1985. I was born in Naggalama, Mukono district to Hajji and Hajjat Ssengooba. For really, I was a nomad when it came to schools. My first stop was at Nakanyonyi Primary and then Kawempe Mbogo for my S.1 and S.2, Kawempe Standard for my S.3 and Naggalama Islamic for my S.4. I had to proceed to Kawempe Muslim for my A’Level.      SU: When did you join Ebonies and what inspired to act

    Hady Sengo: I joined in 2009. Since childhood I was an actress and a musician even in school so I had passion for acting and I knew I would make it big.

    SU: What has been your greatest moment in Ebonies?

    Hady Sengo: The first Red carpet reception and meeting the Kabaka face to face and upclose.

     SU: Where do you draw your inspiration from?

    Hady Sengo: I used to watch a television reality called Sunset Beach and it inspired me a lot to join the industry.

    SU: Tell us about your love life?

    Hady Sengo: I am engaged with a man of my life and we have two kids, 4 and 2 years.

    SU: Tell us how do you manage family, acting and your private business at ago?

    Hady Sengo: It is extremely difficult but I try to juggle them like a pro.

     SU: What role do you play in Ebonies and how do you find it?

    Hady Sengo: I am a senior actress, a producer and costume mistress. I find my roles interesting, a lot of debating but really very cool.

    SU: What do you in your free time?

    Hady Sengo: I watch movies and spend quality time with my kids.

    SU: Given a chance which Hollywood actors would you love work with?

    Hady Sengo: Uhmm a lots. I really fancy Charlize Theron, Halle Barry, Angelina Jolie and Tom Welling.

    SU: Which celebrity would you love to date if given a chance ?

    Hady Sengo: Ed Westick aka Chuck Bass of Gossip Girl. He looks so nice.

    SU: What do say about Uganda’s Film Industry?

    Hady Sengo: It is too backward, we need real movie producers. They just annoy me.Hady Sengo

    SU: Any avice for young actors?

    Hady Sengo: Entertainment needs much honesty, ethics and patience.

    SU: What is your favorite local dish, movie and role model?

    Hady Sengo: My favourite movie is Charmed, am down for Matooke and smoked fish in Gnuts. My favorite personality is Oprah

    SU: What do you do that your friends dont like

    Hady Sengo: Two things; 1. I am straightforward, I say it like I see it and 2. I argue a lot as in debating, it is hard to let something go without winning, and I think I am always right. These two irritate my friends a lot.

    SU: What did you gain from Hollywood visit?

    Hady Sengo: Visited a lot of places that i only heard of and only saw in movies. It was a great learning experience.

    SU: What are your favourite hangouts in Uganda?

    Hady Sengo: I do not really hangout but if I am to choose, i say Club Silk

    SU: Being a muslim and given the fact of you guys behave, don’t find it inconveniencing your work?

    Hady Sengo: Oh My God (Winks), for real that is the biggest challenge of all especially in Ramadan. For-instance you’re fasting all covered up yet you have to go on stage putting on skimpy outfits so definitely my family does not like it.

    SU: Any last words?

     Who Is Nadia Buari?

    Nadia Buari (born 21 November 1982)is a Ghanaian actress. She received two nominations for Best Actress in a Leading Role at the African Movie Academy Awards in 2007 and 2009. Buari is the daughter of Sidiku Buari, a Ghanaian musician. She studied Performing Arts at the University of Ghana, Legon, and graduated with a BFA degree in Fine Arts.

    Buari premiered on Ghanaian national television with the TV series Games People Play in late 2005. Her first major film was Mummy’s Daughter, after which she starred in Beyonce: The President’s Daughter. Her role as “Beyonce” was her major breakthrough. She has starred in more than 20 movies.     Who is Uwase? 

    Asma: My real name is Asma Uwase. I was born on 02 September 1991. I was born and raised in Kigali, Rwanda.

    Why did you leave Kigali for Kampala?

    Asma: I left Kigali because of my modeling career. I had no chance to make it big in Kigali so I opted for a much better Kampala.

    When did u join modeling?

    Asma: I started my modeling career in 2010 and have now done several runways. I have experience now and I see myself becoming a big model in the near future.

    Who inspired you?

    Asma: I was inspired by American supermodel Tyra Banks. I used to watch so much of American next top Model. That is where I got my inspiration.

    What is your dream and where do we expect to see you in modeling in the next five years?

    Asma: I dream big! I want start my own clothing line and modeling agency and I see my self in the biggest industry of modeling. I truly want to emulate Tyra Banks and other top supermodels in the world.

    What is your memorable modeling experience?

    Asma: When one of my heels got broken on the runway and I rocked on the runway that no one noticed what had happened to me.

    What’s your comment about Uganda’s Modeling Industry?

    Asma: It is an industry that is just growing of which, with our Ugandan culture most Ugandans are failing to embrace it. Ugandans need to support the industry and give it a push and we will be up there.

    What do you do in your free time?

    Asma: I love watching movies in a silent place and cooking for my friends.

    What challenges have you face in this industry?

    Asma: I have faced no challenges as yet because I love what I am doing and the pressure is still low.

    Tell us about your love life. All these we have read in the papers, what do you have to say about it?

    Asma: Am the kind who loves and does one on one relationship. Not everything that has appeared in newspapers is true apart from my name.

    Are you assigned to any company officially?

    Asma: I am not yet assigned to any company because I like keeping my options open.

    What message do you have for your fans and fellow models?

    Badman: I am no.1 Suspect Badman. I am a Ugandan reggae dancehall musician based in Cape Town South Africa. I started music career not so long about three years ago. I come from Ruhaama, Ntungamo but grew from Kasubi Nabulagala where my family lives. I went to Kanyanya and Mengo primary schools before I did High school in Kenya. From Kenya, I went to school of music in Cape Town from where I later started my music career.

     SU: Tell us about your music?

    Badman: I am more in reggae and dancehall music as i earlier said. I teach through my talent by singing educative message in music for the better change of our daily life and issues at hand. i do my music in many languages but still international music though i try to be on point as in English and our local languages. I basically mix for all to follow and know what message i intend to deliver.     SU: What are your plans?

     Badman: My plan is to perform and launch my music in Uganda and East Africa at large in the near future (very soon). I will also be heading to German with Azania band this year for some music shows.

     SU: Are you seeing someone?

     Early Life

    Doreen Kabareebe is a 22-year-old daughter of Hon. Amon Muzoora former MP Rwampara in Mbarara district and Miss Esther Harriet. She was born in Kakigaani Ndeija Rwampara in Mbarara district on 25th December 1990 and grew up from one of her Dad’s houses in Bunga. She comes from a family of 9, seven girls and three boys.

     Education

    Doreen did her nursery education from Entebbe Kindergarten, then proceeded to Lakeside Academy for her primary then Wanyange Girls School for both “O” and “A” levels before joining Nkumba University where she graduated with bachelors degree in Public Administration.

    Career

    She joined modelling through contesting in various beauty pageants and has not looked back since then even when she failed to win Miss Uganda and Miss Nkumba beauty pageants in 2009. She continued to contest until she won her first beauty crown in 2012. Doreen

    Early Life

    Nankya was born in 1988 at Rubaga hospital and raised in Nsambya estates in Kampala Uganda. She is the youngest of seven children born to Betty Nsubuga, a Nurse, and the late Angelo Nsubuga who worked for American Insurance in Uganda.     She did her nursery and primary education in Kampala, in the late 90’s she moved to the UK with her family where she has settled and been living since then. Doreen Faith is a 2010 graduate with a combined BA Honours degree in Fashion Design & Marketing obtained from the prestigious London College of Fashion, one of the best and most recognised fashion institutions in the world. Doreen reminisces that from an early age that she has always been engrossed in fashion which has influenced her to pursue higher education studies in fashion. Her fascination with the technique behind the structure of dressmaking began whilst studying at university as a design student where she has developed a strong skill set for designing, pattern cutting and dress making techniques, all clearly visible in her artwork. Presently, she is working on setting up her label-DARE and when she’s not working she free-lances as a Women’s wear Fashion Designer. This ambitious and creative personality has enabled Doreen to keep working and developing her experience in the fashion industry and she strongly believes that her vision, creativity, entrepreneurial skills as well as experience are going to alleviate towards building her career in fashion.

    As a Ugandan born and UK bred fashion designer, Doreen Faith in December 2012 showcased a few dresses from her collection which she has been working on since August 2012. She was invited by the Nile Diaspora International Film Festival committee to showcase her collection at the festival. Her involvement in the event was to introduce her to the Ugandan audience as a designer and promote her women’s wear label called-DARE, which will be based online in the UK from 2014.  “I thought that it would be a great opportunity to promote my label to my country of birth especially at this prestigious event. I have plans of opening DARE shops in Uganda and Africa in the future so part of the objective was to expose my artistry to the Ugandan audience”, explained Doreen Faith. The Nile’s Diaspora International Film Festival is a not-for-profit cultural organization that seeks to change the way people see the world through FILM. The film festival promises to promote cultural and artistic significant films and arts through education and exhibition to enlighten and entertain people. The first event took place on the 7th- 15th of December 2012 and was launched at Sheraton hotel, Uganda. The organisation held workshops in Kampala and different towns in Uganda followed by the closing ceremony, which was held at the same venue and had special performances by Ugandan musicians Desire Luzinda and gospel singer Exodus. Nadia Buari of Ghana and Jim Iyke of Nigeria were both in attendance and were presented with awards in different capacities. Nigeria’s prominent figure, Obi Emelonye, the director and producer for the Mirror Boy premiered his other major film, the Last Flight to Abuja to the Ugandan audience for the first time. Other invitees included Tonya Lee Williams of the young and restless, Omar Oyin Bala a representative for the African Film Consortium in West Africa.     Angella Franklin Katatumba is a Ugandan singer born on February 21st in Nairobi Kenya. She is the daughter of the Honorary Consul of Pakistan in Uganda, H.E Dr. Boney Katatumba and Gertrude Katatumba the proprietor AFK Beauty Clinic Kabalagala. Angella has seven brothers including a twin brother called Rugiirwa and an older sister living in Atlanta, Georgia.

    Education
    She went to primary education in Uganda at the Katatumba Academy, from 1986 – 1994 then went to Belmont Senior Secondary School from 1994 -1996 in Vancouver, B.C, Canada, where she obtained a Public Relations Diploma. She then went to Oxford Brookes University, England where she  got Bachelor of Arts degrees in Economics and Law from 1996-1999. Also at Oxford Brookes University, England she continued on to obtain a Masters in International Management / Public Relations in 1999 – 2000.
    After university in England, Angella moved to Chicago, Illinois in the US, where she had several well paying and prestigious jobs in the hospitality industry. She worked at; Buca Di Beppo Restaurant from 2001- 2002, Isaac Hayes Restaurant in 2002 – 2003 also in Chicago and at Majestic Star Casino from 2003 – 2004 in Chicago Illinois, USA where she was earning up to almost $100,000 USD per year.

    Work
    When Angella moved back home to Uganda in 2005, she started working as the Managing Director at her father Dr. Boney Katatumba’s Hotel called Hotel Diplomate in Kampala, Uganda. She is still currently the MD of the hotel.

    Music Career
    Angella also started to professionally record her music in Uganda in 2005. So far, she has recorded three Albums. Angella has made singing in English a priority since she started in Uganda; this is because she has always had the global market in mind. The first album is titled PEACE (a 10 track album with songs like:

    For You Gulu, Peace – a duet with Butcherman, Sikyettagga – a duet with Bebe Cool, I live For You, Let Me, I surrender, One Minute Man a duet with Bebe Cool, Success, Standing in the Rain and I Live For You Remix.

    The Second album is titled Glad I’m Alive, a 10 Track Album with song’s like Feel Alright a duet with Navio, Glad I’m Alive, Thank You, The Pledge, Without You, Wind Beneath Your Wings, A Better Place a duet with First Love, Forgivenes, Ngenze Noono and  wenjagala.

    The third Album is titled In The Air has songs like Let’s Go Green, a duet with Keko, In the Air and Only You. In addition to music, in 2006 to present, Angella started an NGO called the Angella Katatumba Development Foundation which is the umbrella of two of Angella’s projects.

    The first is her extremely successful “For You Gulu” Project. The For You Gulu project’s intention is through her music to raise awareness about the plight in Northern Uganda and to collect anything in kind to help the people of the war torn regions.

    After the massive success of her For You Gulu project, Angella, under her foundation continues to raise awareness for the suffering people in Uganda and eventually Africa.

    The second is Angella’s “Let’s Go Green campaign”. After thetre mendous success of Angella’s For You Gulu project, in 2010 the
    British Council approached Angella with an endorsement deal and appointed her the International Climate Change Icon in Uganda.

    Her purpose was to spearhead again, through her music the awareness of climate change in Uganda. This project has also been extremely successful and has seen Angella globe trot to different parts of the world, she recently returned from Cancun Mexico where she attended the Global Climate Change summit where she performed for heads of states and other dignitaries her Let’s Go Green song which was being used as one of the theme songs at the global summit.

    She also goes to the villages in Uganda and  specially in schools to preach about climate change. Angella has so far with God’s grace accomplished a number of achievements namely:

    OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT ON MAY 12TH 2011- Chose Angella to make history by being the first artist to ever accompany the police, army and prisons bands by singing the Uganda National Anthem for the first time ever in front of 11 heads of state.

    She has been titled “The New Queen of Music” back in the UK. The hot new music sensation Angela Nabuufu better known by her stage name: “Ang3lina” has really been turning heads across the globe.

    Angela Nabuufu was born and raised in London and is currently a student at Birmingham University studying an undergraduate degree in clinical psychology.

    She is a multi talented musician who has been exposed to music from a very young age. Young with a sexy voice, She play’s the piano, guitar and bass all at an exceptional level. Not to mention that she is also an independent songwriter.

    She released her first single Sigwa Kukoma a few months ago, a love song expressing “This Love is Never Ending” which is sung in Luganda, Swahili and English, produced by paddy man at Audio 1. This instantly became a club hit in the UK.

    Recently, she released another solo single titled “Omukyala” an inspirational, heartfelt song about women. The lyrics say it all. This was produced just before she left Uganda in September with Award winning producer Henry Kiwuwa.

    The new UK queen is destined to jet back to Uganda this month to start her new projects with her new label she was recently signed to by Deejay Bobby Illest, current manager of Bakri and owner of Greenlight Entertainment.
