Beyoncé Knowles Tops The FORBES Celebrity 100 List

Who runs the world? In entertainment, it’s Beyoncé. The singer has climbed to the No. 1 spot on the Forbes Celebrity 100 after an amazing year featuring a massive tour.

Queen B played 95 shows, bringing in an average $2.4 million per stop, according to Pollstar. She also dropped her most innovative album. But Beyoncé doesn’t stop with music — she’s built a small business empire. She earns millions endorsing companies like H&M and Pepsi. She has a line of fragrances with names like Heat, Rise and Pulse, and then there’s her clothing company House of Dereon, which features jeans, shoes and accessories. All together we estimate that Beyoncé earned $115 million between June 1, 2013 and June 1, 2014.

The singer is embarking on another big year highlighted by her first world tour with her husband, Jay Z. Their On The Run tour, which kicked off June 25 in Miami, will be short (only 20 dates are set) but lucrative for the pair, who can claim the crown as the most powerful celebrity couple in the world.Jay-Z

Jay Z also places high on the Celebrity 100 this year, in sixth place with an estimated $60 million in earnings. That comes from a variety of sources, including his latest album, Magna Carta … Holy Grail; dozens of live shows; his growing Roc Nation empire and business ventures ranging from his 40/40 nightclub chain to his D’Ussé cognac.

FORBES’ annual Celebrity 100 list ranks the top stars from the worlds of movies, TV, music, sports, books and modelling based on money and fame.

We estimate earnings by talking to lawyers, producers, agents and other in-the-know folks to figure out how much over 200 celebrities earned from entertainment-related business in the past year. That includes things like music sales, upfront pay on movies and endorsement work. Our time frame for earnings this year is June 1, 2013 to June 1 2014. We don’t deduct for things like taxes, agent fees or the other expenses associated with being a celebrity.LeBron James

We measure fame in a variety of ways. We count how many times each celebrity was mentioned in print, on TV and radio. We factor in a score from StarCount for social media power over 11 platforms including Twitter TWTR +0.1%, Facebook and YouTube. This year we’ve also added an impact score, similar to the one we use for our Power Women list. Based on reporting by our editorial staff, the number measures the impact each celebrity has on the entertainment industry and our culture overall. We put all of those numbers into an algorithm to come up with our final list. Justin Bieber had the highest ranking for social networking power but because of his low impact this year, he only ranked 33rd on our list, down from ninth last year.

In second place on our list is LeBron James. We estimate that the basketball player earned $72 million last year. James recently announced that he’s opting out of his contract with the Miami Heat to become a free agent. That could mean an even richer payday for James, who earns big endorsing companies like Coke and McDonald’s — or not if he decides to sacrifice salary to build a stronger roster around him.

Rihanna

In third place is Dr. Dre, who earned more in the past 12 months than anyone in the history of the Celebrity 100. We peg Dre’s earnings at $620 million thanks to Apple’s purchase of his Beats by Dre for $3 billion. The entrepreneur continues to be influential in the music business, mentoring Kendrick Lamar, who earned seven Grammy Award nominations this year.

Robert Downey Jr

Last year’s No. 1 celebrity, Oprah Winfrey, falls to fourth place this year with an estimated $82 million in earnings. The talk show host’s eponymous cable network, OWN, is finally turning around (it became cash-flow positive in 2013) and Winfrey helped make Lee Daniel’s The Butler a hit. But the three celebrities ranked above her just have more influence and power at this moment.

Rounding out the top five is another talk show host, Ellen DeGeneres, who we estimate earned $70 million in the last 12 months. The new queen of daytime TV broke the Internet this year when she posted what has become the most famous “selfie” of all time. Aside from the ratings success of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the 56-year-old CoverGirl is beefing up her producing roster. Her production company is working on pilots for the CW and NBC, and cable network HGTV will air a DeGeneres-produced design competition series next year.

Tycoon Buys Tigan’s Ex Girlfriend, Rinah Posh Ride

Singer Henry Tigan’s ex girlfriend Rinah Munira is surely ripping big from her failed relationship with the struggling singer. Days after we revealed that she is too close to singer Jose Chameleone, latest reaching our desk has it that a city loaded prominent tycoon who we are yet to identify has bought for her the latest Toyota Land Cruiser Prado white in colour.

Who Is Fresh Papoose?

Robbie Rain Businge Luwaga, the artist known as ‘Fresh Papoose aka Fresh P’ is a young, dynamic and talented Luga flow hip hop, whose career is set to the high level over the next years.

He first emerged on the music scene in the year 2010 as part of the group ‘Red Tawu Entrainment’ (R.T.E). He then recorded his first song ‘Ensi si nyangu’ in the same year 2010. Since then, Fresh Papoose has gone from strength, working his way up the entertainment ladder in some places in UK to become the most recognizable Luga Flow Hip-hop artist in the music industries/country Uganda, and receiving recognition comments from the people.

As part of the group ‘Red Tawu Entertainment’, Fresh Papoose was the only Luga flow hip hop artist in group and in UK who never let the group down as for him. As a rap act, Fresh Papoose is looking forward has reputation spreading throughout East Africa and in some countries. Quality has been a huge part of Fresh Papoose’s progression as an artist, and Fresh Papoose has always needed it to gain the appeal that is now giving him more of the confidential Luga flow hip hop artist in East Africa according to his dreams.

Fresh Papoose’s highly anticipated he hasn’t got album yet entitled ‘Who am I? Am the Hip Hop Police!!’ is a fresh as his name Fresh papoose, youthful sound with strong African influence that looks set to take the East African hip hop Music to the next level by storm. Before, Fresh Papoose was well known as Kichen Bro in his neighbourhood and the fans.

The name Kichen Bro was given by her young sisters, Angela Nakix “https://twitter.com/Angelanakix” who is a upcoming model now and Immaculate Nakibuugwe “https://twitter.com/minajsolaskie”, so he decided to spell it differently Kichen without “T” as in Kitchen. His young sisters came up with name “Kichen Bro” because he liked cooking or being in the Kitchen all the times and they came up with “Bro” because his they’re older brother. Fresh Papoose is the only son in the family with 5 sisters.

After some times, he moved to UK with all of his 5 sisters in 2008 from Uganda to join their parents in United Kingdom to have better life after long time without seeing each other since they left Uganda in 2000. He then recorded is first song “EKIBUUZO” after he find it so hard to find music studio to record as he never took it seriously as he was into studies. After sometimes, he then changed his name from Kichen Bro to “Fresh Papoose” after a friend of his told him, “that someone else is using his name in Uganda”, but for him spells the name Kitchen Bro with “T”, so he had to let it go. The reason why he let the name go Is because the guy using his name is on the ground in Uganda and he will be more popular and recognized than him. “After” he thought of the new name, He came up with “FRESH PAPOOSE” a.k.a Fresh P.

The young talented Ugandan lugaflow hip hop artist hailing from United Kingdom. Fresh Papoose is interested in music showed at an early age, He was heavily influenced by hip hop rappers like Papoose U.S.A hip hop underground http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Papoose , Juacali Kenya, Juelz Santana U.S.A ,Bataka squad/ Babaluku/ Saba saba Uganda, Krukid Uganda American, Keko Uganda, Navio Uganda, Kool G Rap, Rakim and Big Daddy Kane and many more.

He listened to their music by visiting their website local TV music channels or by visiting you-tube channels, a channel he would watch everyday when he goes on internet. His introduction to hip hop and luga flow was when he first heard “AMAWULILE”by Bataka Squad, from their on wards, he started downloading there songs from youtube and some free website music. He started writing his own songs since he left Uganda to UK and I started recording songs since and then. So far, he only worked with Producers like Nafia and Platinum for the success.

Kampala Fashion Intro 2014 Due At Kampala Serena Hotel

The Great Lakes Arts Association has today unveiled a strategic partnership with LDJ productions, the producers of the New York Fashion week and Kigali Fashion week in the upcoming Kampala Intro Fashion that takes place this weekend at Kampala Serena Hotel.

The event will take place on 16th and 17th of this month. The Fashion Intro is an annual fashion show and discussion event aimed at promoting, informing and presenting the public with the Great Lakes Arts Association’s mission, execution and purpose which are to educate, support and display the arts in the Eastern African Region.

According to Joel Kanyamunyu, a director at Great Lakes Arts Association, LDJ Productions, a full-service Event management and production company that has serviced Fortune 500 companies and industry leaders for over a decade will infuse world class production into the Fashion intro. “This year, you will get to see the hottest up-and coming designers from Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania, Nigeria and an exclusive slice of international fashion labels”, he said.

Kanyamunyu added that the focus of the Kampala Fashion intro is to promote local enterprise multicultural arts, ethnic diversity and a positive image.

The Kampala Fashion intro is a precursor to this year’s regional fashion weeks talking place in August in Burundi, Kigali early November and Kampala mid-November. “We look forward to developing great relationships with sponsors, designers, press and fans across the globe and are committed to making this year’s production one that goes down in history,” he vowed. Capping it off, Kanyamunyu said that fashion need to be limited to expensive designer brands, left-to-mainstream labels and trendy statements.

Understated sophistication is always overlooked, especially today when people generally favour flashy prints and loud colours. This festival will obviously incorporate all aspects of the industry; the cultural, the modern, the hip and trendy.

Our anticipation is that this will be a trend-setter for the industry. The event will also offer an added opportunity to local fashion and accessory designers to showcase their creations at the event in the African Market Place set up in the Serena Conference Centre and this will further assist local artists to gain much needed exposure.There will also be performances from local singers.

PRETTY GLO ON HER MUSIC CAREER

Who Is Pretty Glo?

She is Ugandan/Rwandese artist who is God fearing and down to earth. The name Pretty Glo was given to her by a fellow artist Qute Kaye who mentored her. She loves Iryn Namubiru and was musically inspired by her. She is a versatile when it comes to music and doesn’t focus on only one style of music. She tries every style because she is flexible in most styles. The singer does R ‘n’B, Dancehall, Afro beat and Zouk.

Her Music Career

Pretty Glo aka Ingabire Gloria started her career in 2008 with a girl dance and singing group WAFAGIO.

She participated for Tusker Project Fame in 2009 before she later left the group to pursue a solo career in 2010. She got on the charts in October 2010 with a song titled ‘Missed Call’ which featured Fidempa from Kenya.

She was signed under Philpac Entertainment under Julian promoter and managed by Calvin Da Entertainer. The song was produced by producer Kayz and video was shot by Reel 16 Jovan.

Other songs followed like ‘Natukunda’ by Prod. Nash, ‘Gwe Wankuba’, ‘Nkwata Ko’ written and produced by Denis Rackla, ‘Ensulo Zomukwano’, and ‘Akawoowo’ ft Denis Rackla, ‘Umpora Kumutima’ Produced by Washington from Records and video by Arkmenz,’Buli Lwovawo’ written by Mr.Woodz and produced by Tim Vybes, ‘Wesilikire’ written by Maro at Ark Records. Her latest single ‘Privately’ has become a hit in Kigali as well as in Kampala.

The song was produced by Kayz and video shot by Hasnz media. She also has another new single ‘Love Mometor’ done by Neat Records, then a collabo with Fille ‘Key To My Heart’ produced in Super Level studios in Kigali bys producer Piano. She has won herself a deal with a top band in Kigali, Rwanda and she will be working with it as she enhances her music career.

As usual due to FOMO, Showbiz Uganda could not miss out the opportunity to bring you our readers, first hand information. We caught up with the lady herself, Erika, and asked her about the event.

SU: Hi Erika Erika: Hallo Showbiz Uganda

SU: Most people know you as Barika, so can you please enlighten them on your real name?

Erika: My name is Erika Biingi, Biingi being my family name. My middle name is Nyakato, since I’m a twin. So the full name is Erika Nyakato Biingi.

SU: So am guessing the word Barika comes from that? Erika: No Barika comes from two names Barbra (a friend) and Erika. We had the idea as children and when I got done with school, I started up. It also has a nice meaning in Swahili, which we learnt after creating the company.

SU: So what exactly is Barika Fashion house about? What do you do?

Erika: We had this idea to create everyday clothing and add origin to them. Yah so that’s what we do. We culturalise clothing for anyone with any sort of African Heritage. We make clothing for both women and men using African print as a main factor in our clothing. We will slowly also add accessories in the years to come.

SU: Where do you get the African fabric from? Erika: I go with a friend of mine called Karen to Kiyembe. We will probably import later on but for now, it’s really fun going down there

SU: That is very interesting. I must say you look very young yet have very mature ideas, how old are you, if you don’t mind us asking? Erika: 19

SU: WHAT!!!! Erika: (laughs) I like to have that effect on people.

SU: (still in shock) What or who inspires (d) you to start this?Erika: That would be my art teacher and Gloria Wavamuno. Gloria has a way she turns art into wearable art and it’s envious. She’s amazing. My teacher of art because he always, “If it’s not challenging then it’s not right.” so you could paint till you became a pro and if you found it easy, you find something else to go for, like carpentry. I found it so hard to express how I felt through clothing, so I’m on the right track. Plus I love African fabric. It feels like another world altogether.

SU: Because you mentioned your teacher as an inspiration, I’m tempted to ask what schools you attended. Erika: I went to Greenhill from P2 to S4, after which I attended Greensteds in Kenya for my A level. This school gave me a whole other angle to life. That’s how I knew now was the time for me to start.One of the designs of Barika

SU: Have you had an Exhibition yet? Erika: Yes, we had a launch last year. It was a debut show on August 8^th and we have participated in concurrent shows.

SU: And now the big question, Barika online. What is this that’s filling our news feed?

Erika: We currently don’t have premises so it has been hard trying to reach our clients. So we decided to go online. The plan is to have people be available to buy our products and have them delivered to them. Also to have a platform for other creative artists to work with us.

SU: WOW! I see you are powered by Code 256, what under the sun is that?

Erika: They are a brand that does branding and also have items for sale of their own. Under normal circumstances they would be my completion but they have supported me throughout this journey.

I Am An Independent Woman Happily Dating – Desire Luzinda

Like the snoops we are, Showbiz Uganda tracked Desire who has a good musical voice and a body to match.

Unlike Juliana, Desire Luzinda has over the years put great effort into looking great, and it has paid off. While a good number simply thought that she was someone who popped up to give Juliana some competition, Desire had other plans. She was out to create a brand as one of the most lusted over high-maintenance women in town. Below are her words

SU: Who is Desire Luzinda?

Desire Luzinda: Desire Luzinda is a ‘Forever 25’ year old musician, mother of 1 daughter, happily dating and independent woman.

SU: Tell us about your music

Desire Luzinda: I always find this the hardest question because with Ugandan music, it is a bit hard to categorise but am certain I fall between Afro-beat with a fusion of R ‘n’ B.

SU: What do you have for your fans this year?

Desire Luzinda: This has started in high gear and looks brighter. I have not had a concert since 2008 but with the increasing demand from my fans, come 6th June this year Kampala Serena hotel will rock with the ‘Black n White Affair’ concert.

SU: How have you managed showbiz life with all stalking?

Desire Luzinda: Oooh, stalking is no longer a problem to me. Actually I grew up with lots of stalkers because of my beauty though it became different when i started singing. Initially i was scared of what would follow as a young woman starting my singing career in 2007 but over the years as I grew and established myself, I learnt how to deal with it. I am not the kind you will find in all happening places in town nor functions and it is one way I have kept away from. Being more available gives more room to stalkers to follow you.

SU: What do you think Ugandan music industry is missing?

Desire Luzinda: Personally, I look at the positive side of the industry reason being, it has grown from scratch, which we need to appreciate because it continues to grow by the day and gives the younger generations more opportunities. In a nutshell, what is lacking will surely be achieved over time.

SU: What has been the biggest challenge in the industry?

Desire Luzinda: The biggest challenge in the industry has been people being very judgemental but it stems from the press that writes false stories thus corrupting readers’ minds. Nevertheless, judging me no longer gives me sleepless nights because anyone in the limelight lives a different life from ordinary people so you have to be criticised.

SU: Tell us about love life, are you dating and who is the lucky guy?

Desire Luzinda: I am happily dating though not yet for public consumption.

SU: How do you feel being among top female singers?

Desire Luzinda: I feel great and an achiever being among the top female singers in the country. We work to achieve and when you achieve you are recognised, when you are recognised you’re appreciated and when you’re appreciated you’re celebrated. I may not have reached the highest of levels but I am glad I have reached this far. What more can one ask for.

SU: Any hobbies?

Desire Luzinda: Hmmmmm, I actually love a clean environment so most of my free time I stay home and do lots of cleaning. I have not had a maid for the last 4 years because it is the choice I made so I do all my house chores.

SU: And you look up to who in life?

Desire Luzinda: My mother inspired and still inspires me. Chic is too hardworking, a no nonsense woman and believes nothing is impossible if you do it with your heart and the right way.

SU: What are your favourite movie, dish, song and hangout?

Desire Luzinda: Favourite movie, I don’t know because I am not a movie person and am not good at remembering titles. I can’t live without rice and beef. Being the woman that I am today, places with quiet music and less congested are my favourite hangouts.

SU: How do you manage to mix music and other business plus being a single mother together and your perfect them?

Desire Luzinda: I would not call it perfection because there are times the people you employ steal from you and you’re hit hard. However, most of my businesses are run by my elder sister who literally sacrificed her well paying UN job to manage my companies like Dizzy Shuttles, Hitec studio and my Farm.

SU: What is your message to young upcoming singers especially ladies

Desire Luzinda: Young upcoming singers should believe in themselves and fight on. We all started from nowhere but it is persistence and hard work that got us here.

SU: Much pomp around town about your Serena concert, an words?

Desire Luzinda: Ooooooh yeah, ‘Black and White Affair’ is my concert due to take place on the 6th of June 2014 at Victoria Hall, Kampala Serena Hotel. Its all about elegance and meeting my fans as well as giving back to the society because 30% of the concert proceedings will go to Ibanda Babies home, a charity home I have always supported. That is the more reason people should come and be part of the ‘Black and White Affair’ with Desire Luzinda.

Model Nina On Representing Uganda, Modeling And Love Life

Nina Mirembe is a Ugandan professional model well known as a fitness, bikini, lingerie, high fashion, commercial, editorial, and runway model.She was last week chosen to represent Uganda at the 2014 Miss Asia Pacific World beauty pageant in South Korean capital Soul. Showbiz Uganda tracked her down and this is her story.

SU: Who is Nina Mirembe?

Nina: I am a very happy and compassionate person. I enjoy sharing things and talking to people about almost everything. I have a quick wit and love to laugh about everything under the sun. I can be quiet at first, but once you get to know me, I don’t shut up. From way back, I happen i to have a logical mind but understand and feel emotions as well. I love good food and healthy fitness, not forgetting my obsession for photography and fashion.

SU: Tell us about your love life?

Nina: I’m not single. I have someone though not yet ready for public consumption.

SU: When did you join modeling?

Nina: I joined modeling in 2012 after winning Miss Uganda Beach Beauty 2012-13.SU: Who inspired you?

Nina: I actually inspired myself in everything have done and in everything I’m about to do because have always been a wildest dreamer to achieve something greater in life, something of which I am passionate about.

SU: Unexpectedly you beat off competition from top model and fashion designers for the slot to represent Uganda at such a big stage (Miss Asia Pacific World)?

Nina: It’s a humbling experience now that I will be representing my country internationally and It’s something that I ever fantasized in my wildest dreams.

SU: What do u in your free time?

Nina: Well, I like to organize my things when I have time. I like to give myself a special treatment, maybe a facemask or a manicure. Fresh air always makes me feel better or puts me in a better mood, so I take an adventure. If I’m alone I will just burst into song and basically dance around my house like an idiot! I love watching YouTube fashion clips, which always keep me updated with fashion trends.SU: Rate modeling in Uganda

Nina: Modeling in Uganda is a bit challenging because it basically isn’t a full time job, fashion industry is just growing up though at a slow pace. Basically its yet to pick up as compared to the potential of our girls.

SU: What cant you do without?

Nina: Touching other people’s lives. Good food, water, oxygen.

My family, My craziest friends, My Man (he gives me a good laugh), Seeing the sun rise and the sun set, honesty, being out at sea on the white Sands on the beach. Healthy fitness (if your not healthy your life is screwed). Ice cream (that’s always a big crave I got). My phone and lastly a lip balm or gloss. Cannot do without them.

SU: What did study and which schools

Nina: Im a high school graduate studied arts including the language Literature in English. I studied from Baptist High School and Good Will College.

SU: Are you a movie freak?

Nina: My favourite movie is Madagascar hahahaha I just can’t get enough of it, its always good to laugh your jaws out. My favourite actor is

I love Jason Statham and my favourite model remains the supermodel Naomi Campbell.

SU: What future plans do you have?

Nina: My future plans are to focus on what I do best, learn new skills in the industry and later I would like to go beyond just being a model to a management.

SU: What is the memorable thing you have done on runaway

Nina: It has always been my signature walk, my unique super catwalk always leave the stage with wow….SU: What message do you have for young models?

Nina: The modeling industry is not a joke, its challenging, there’s scam, there’s rejection but whatever it is …if it comes your way and hits you hard to a point of giving up on your dream, please don’t give up keep dreaming big because there’s always something great you meant to do. One-day success will knock on your door only if you work hard for it, and learn how to promote yourself than being overshadowed.

She is one the most thought after models in Uganda at the moment but what else do you know about Asma Uwase? Showbiz Uganda talked to her about modeling career, love life and her dream.

Who is Uwase?

Asma: My real name is Asma Uwase. I was born on 02 September 1991. I was born and raised in Kigali, Rwanda.

Why did you leave Kigali for Kampala?

Asma: I left Kigali because of my modeling career. I had no chance to make it big in Kigali so I opted for a much better Kampala.

When did u join modeling?

Asma: I started my modeling career in 2010 and have now done several runways. I have experience now and I see myself becoming a big model in the near future.

Who inspired you?

Asma: I was inspired by American supermodel Tyra Banks. I used to watch so much of American next top Model. That is where I got my inspiration.

What is your dream and where do we expect to see you in modeling in the next five years?

Asma: I dream big! I want start my own clothing line and modeling agency and I see my self in the biggest industry of modeling. I truly want to emulate Tyra Banks and other top supermodels in the world.

What is your memorable modeling experience?

Asma: When one of my heels got broken on the runway and I rocked on the runway that no one noticed what had happened to me.

What’s your comment about Uganda’s Modeling Industry?

Asma: It is an industry that is just growing of which, with our Ugandan culture most Ugandans are failing to embrace it. Ugandans need to support the industry and give it a push and we will be up there.

What do you do in your free time?

Asma: I love watching movies in a silent place and cooking for my friends.

What challenges have you face in this industry?

Asma: I have faced no challenges as yet because I love what I am doing and the pressure is still low.

Tell us about your love life. All these we have read in the papers, what do you have to say about it?

Asma: Am the kind who loves and does one on one relationship. Not everything that has appeared in newspapers is true apart from my name.

Are you assigned to any company officially?

Asma: I am not yet assigned to any company because I like keeping my options open.

What message do you have for your fans and fellow models?
