Nyege Nyege Festival Secures Approval and Unity for Exciting 2023 Edition

Nyege Nyege 2023

In contrast to the challenges faced last year, this year’s Nyege Nyege festival has received the green light from government officials, with comprehensive safety measures in place for the upcoming event just two weeks away.

Government authorities, representatives from the Busoga Kingdom, Talent Africa, and the police have collaborated to ensure the success of the Nyege Nyege festival, continuing the tradition of previous editions.

Under the leadership of Ethics and Integrity State Minister Rose Lilly Akello, a meeting was held to establish clear guidelines and regulations for Nyege Nyege, which will be released to the public soon.

Nyege Nyege remains a significant attraction, drawing thousands of Ugandans and international visitors to the picturesque shores of the River Nile, increasingly seen as both a marketing tool and a travel destination.

According to the organizers, the 2019 festival saw around 13,000 attendees, including 4,000 from outside Uganda. Last year, approximately 15,000 revelers enjoyed the event, with 10,000 Ugandans, 3,000 Kenyans, and 2,000 international guests in attendance.
