    DNA Lounge in Kololo was the scene of mass enjoyment on Saturday when Pallaso and his live band took the stage for the Bell Jamz Listeners Experience.

    The evening got off to a slow start on account of the rain, but the venue was packed by 10 pm as Team Good Music and Leone Island warmed the stage right before Pallaso delivered an electrifying performance of all his hits.

    A surprise guest performance from dancehall songstress Spice Diana ensured the crowd barely had a chance to warm their seats as the mood was set for an evening of dancing.

    Francis Kirabira, the Bell Lager brand manager, who took the stage shortly before the main act said, “Bell Jamz was initiated for this exact reason: for Bell Lager to interact with their customers and for talented Ugandan recording artists to get a platform from which they can showcase their amazing talents.”

    He appreciated the attendees for braving the cold to support Pallaso and Bell Lager and promised even more on the way.

    During the performance, Pallaso lamented on some of his struggles before achieving success including spending time in prison as well as a particularly depressing period in 2017 afterhis “Soma” show at Kyadondo Rugby Grounds received an extremely low turn out.

    The evening was made extra special as a result of the presence of Mama Mayanja, mother to the Mayanja brothers – Jose Chameleone, Weasel, Pallaso, the late AK47 and Humphrey who was also in attendance. Pallaso gave a hearty tribute to his mother with the song Mama, which he used to urge the emotional crowd to appreciate their mothers.

    The Bell Jamz Listeners Experience was launched in 2019 as amusical experience that features a Ugandan artist performing all their hits with a live band. This was the third edition, with the first being headlined by Olina Work maverick Beenie Gunter followed by Kent and Flosso of the Byafayo fame.

    The Bell All Star Tour will be heading to Mbarara this Saturday the 15th of June at Agip Motel starting at 6 pm. The show will feature Vinka, Spice Diana, Fik Famaica, Bennie Gunter, Nina Roz, John Black and many more with Ordinary tickets going for UGX. 10,000 while VIP will be UGX. 20,000.

    Under the theme: Celebrating the Fresh and New, this year’sedition of the All Star Tour will put a spotlight on new artists in the music industry.

    The Bell All Star Tour was launched in 2018 with the aim of celebrating the beauty and greatness of Ugandan music andgiving artists a chance to interact with their fans around the country. It entails five regional shows in Mbarara, Gulu, Kabale, Arua, Masaka and a finale in Kampala.

    The first edition of the tour featured Bebe Cool, A Pass, Winnie Nwagi and many others with the finale being graced byJamaican American reggae artist Tarrus Riley of the Just TheWay You Are and Uganda fame.

    Gato Preto kicks off Nyege Nyege Music Festival

    The annual music festival MTN Nyege Nyege kicked off on Friday at an exclusive launch party at Design Hub in Bugolobi. Music Duo Gato Preto entertained contemporary music lovers to give fans a glimpse into what to expect at this year’s festival which is billed to be the biggest since Nyege Nyege was started in 2015.

    The festival, which is sponsored by Bell Lager, Uganda Waragi and MTN Uganda, will go back to its home town, Jinja, at the beach front of Nile Discovery Beach. The Afrofuturistic duo Gato Preto –Lee Bass from Ghana and Gata Misteriosa from Mozambique – opened up this year to a line-up of 300 artistes selected from around the world who will be bringing contemporary African music to Uganda. Selected artists will be performing a collection of kuduros, kwaito, Afro house, hiplife, Tuareg rock, cosmic synths, Arab tech, Morrocan bass, zouk bass, soukous, balani, funana, swahaili trap and Tigrinian blues.

    Uganda will showcase the best of the traditional musical heritage with musicians from over 15 tribes and a host of DJ’s from around the country including electro Kadodi producers from Mbale, Acholi Dj’s from Gulu and a who’s who of Kampala’s EDM music community.

    From South Africa; Sho Madjozi, Rude Boyz, Dominowe and Phatstoki, folk/funk diva Zetina Mosia and underground electro producers Sleeping Buddah. The Tanzanian line up will feature the cream of the Singeli scene of Dar Es Salaam including the “Godmother of Singeli” Rehema Tahiri for an exclusive performance, as well as rhythm heavy Jagwa Music troupe and Gogo multi-instrumentalist Msafiri Zawose. Tuareg rock band Etran de l’Air will leave Niger for the first time to perform at MTN Nyege Nyege.

    Kenya will be represented by L’Orchestre Les Mangelepa, considered as one of the golden era of Kenyan Lingala.

    “Nyege Nyege is a unique music festival attracting a vibrant audience from Uganda and the world at large. Year on year, the festival has grown in strength and we are pleased to have been part of this journey for the past three years. We have made a commitment to this activity for the next three years and are confident that it will deliver guaranteed unique experiences with Bell Jamz and Uganda Waragi as partners,” said Agaba Tumusiime, Brand Manager, Uganda Waragi.

    In addition, the festival has birthed Nyege Nyege regional experiences in Gulu, Arua, Mbarara and Entebbe.

    Nyege Nyege is a showcase of the connections between Africa and the rest of the world with Cumbia from South America, vodou jazz from Haiti and underground hip hop from America. Nyege Nyege takes its inspiration from the legendary World Festival of the Black Arts’ that took place in Dakar Senegal in 1966.

    Four days of non-stop musical celebration will include state of the art sound systems, games, picnics, boat rides, film screenings, custom made afro-futuristic decorations, biking and quad biking on the shores of the River Nile in a stunning location surrounded by over four acres of lush tropical forest.

    The much anticipated Bell Jamz concert went down on Friday night at the Lugogo Cricket Oval in Kampala.

    The show which featured West African singers Mr Eazi and Tekno started as early as 6:00PM with performances from Uganda’s popular artistes like Fille Mutoni, Cindy Sanyu, Feffe Bussi, Chozen Blood, Ykee Benda, Sheebah among others and deejays Roja and Slickstuart.

    Mr Eazi stepped on stage a few minutes past 9:00PM and put up an energetic performance of his hit songs like; “Dance for Me”, ” Skin Tight” and the fan’s favorite “Leg Over” which everyone sang along to, among others.

    He was followed by Ugandan music giant Bebe Cool who took the stage with his amazing dancers to perform his club bangers ““Kabulengane” “Katono”, “Ki Ekiganye”, “Love You Everyday”, “Mbozi Za Malwa” and among others.

    Tekno took to the stage at around 11:00PM amidst cheers from the crowd. He wowed fans as he sang his songs like, “Wash”, “Rara”, “Pana”, “Duro”, “Be”, and “Samantha” among others.

    The concert ended a few minutes to midnight.

    Ghanaian/Nigerian star singer Oluwatosin Oluwole Ajibade better known by stage name Eazi has promised the best on stage this Friday at highly billed Bell Lager ‘West Africa to Kampala’ concert featuring fellow counter Tekno from Nigeria at Lugogo Cricket Oval.

    He said this during the concert’s Press Conference held at Mist Gardens, Kampala Serena Hotel. “I am So so happy to be here in Uganda…it’s a pleasure to be in Uganda because it is a lovely country. It’s great to be here. Thank you all the sponsors and organizers of this concert. I promise my Ugandan fans the best tomorrow; I will light up the stage. I also appreciate the musicians in Uganda doing good music,” Eazi said.

    The ‘Leg Over’ excited the media when he requested to have Rolex at the presser. Kampala Serena Hotel immediately organised and made a rolex for him. He promised to compose a song titled Rolex.

    Eazi is known for club bangers like Leg Over and Dance For Me whereas the popularity of Tekno’s Pana hit, has earned him the moniker, Mr. Cassava.

    According to organizers, the show will start early with gates opening at 4p.m. After long deliberations, organizers finally settled on MC Kats and Anita Fabiola to host the event. Key considerations for show hosts included Deedan, Malaika, Mr. Mosh, Gaetano and MC Esco.

    The concert will be held at Lugogo Cricket Oval on Friday and by all indications, it will be an evening filled with entertainment.

    Tekno jets in tonight. Both artists have committed to doing live performances.

    Tickets are available for sale at Eazy Ticket and all Shell outlets and no tickets will be sold at the venue. Aly Alibhai of Talent Africa who among the organizer told journalists that there will be ticket sale centre at the Shoprite parking Yard.

    Bell gives 2017 Kampala City Festival 270 million cash boost

    Tanzanian star Diamond Platnumz to headline performances at the festival’s charity concert

    Bell Lager has staked UGX270 million for this year’s Kampala City Festival. The announcement was made by Juliana Kaggwa, Marketing and Innovations Director, Uganda Breweries (UBL) at a press conference hosted at City Hall to launch this year’s festival.

    The Kampala City Festival will this time stretch to a three day affair that runs between 6th and 8th October. It will be held under the theme “Celebrating Cultural Diversity”. The annual event is one of KCCA’s initiatives towards positioning Kampala city as a potential tourist destination. Last year, it’s estimated that the festival attracted over 3 million people and is this time targeting even more from across the East African region.

    “Through our flagship brand, Bell Lager, Uganda Breweries has supported this initiative since inception, 6 years ago. We are pleased to work closely with KCCA to showcase our city as a beautiful destination as well as our unique Ugandan cultural heritage,” said Juliana Kaggwa, UBL Marketing and Innovations Director.

    This year, the festival will feature a pre-carnival charity concert. Proceeds will go towards improved infrastructure and a better learning environment in the 79 UPE schools in the city. Uganda Breweries has set aside 70 million shillings of the total sponsorship package towards this cause.

    Some of the plans include improving and expanding existing structures, building toilets and putting in place improved sanitation facilities, providing instructional material (text books) and provision of computers.

    Speaking at the event, Jennifer Musisi, Executive Director, Kampala City Council Authority (KCCA) said this year’s festival would be even bigger, more exciting and better and invited the people of Kampala to come celebrate their city.

    Meanwhile Tanzanian star singer Diamond Platnumz is the guest artist at this year’s festival.

    Bell Babes Steal Show at Roast and Rhyme

    It is the most popular quarterly outdoor event that features food and good music. The fourth edition of Roast and Rhyme, dubbed ‘Story Tellers Edition’ happened this weekend at Jahazi Pier in Munyonyo, attracting lots of fun loving revelers.

    And just like the organizers had promised – meat was in plenty, and so were the drinks.

    Musicians like Ykee Benda, Kenneth Mugabe and Naava Grey lit up the stage with their performances and impressed with their ballads – the audience sang along word-for-word.

    Janzi Band, also in attendance, put up an energetic act that had the crowds pulling off their best dance strokes. Local music lovers put their roasts and drinks aside to enjoy the performances of their favorite artists. Also present was the Rap Poet, Kagimu.

    But the real show stealers were the Bell Lager brand ambassadors. Clad in the Bell Lager brand colors, the models wowed and had all eyes turning to catch a glimpse wherever they passed. The brand ambassadors put on a typical fashion-forward show in yellow tops and black bottoms.

    The inaugural Roast and Rhyme event was held in June 2016, while the second edition was held four months later. Raggae Nyam Nyam was held in February 2017, as the third edition of the quarterly event.

    Ugandan sensational singer Joseph Mayanja aka Jose Chameleone excited fans on Friday evening during his “Legend-Hit After Hit” concert that was held at Lugogo Cricket Oval.

    The Bell Lager powered show which started at 7 pm registered one of the highest numbers of fans who began storming the venue as early as 6pm. By 8: 30 the venue was full from the VIP Section to the ordinary section.

    Several popular Ugandan musicians including: Pallaso, Aziz Azion, King Saha, Radio, Weasel among others curtain raised at the concert.

    Chameleone who took to the stage at around 11pm was welcomed by thunderous screams, cheers and ululations from the crowd.

    The “Sweet Banana” singer didn’t disappoint as he put up an energetic performance that kept fans on their feet. He took the crowd through his musical journey as he performed all his songs live, including “Badilisha, Wale Wale, Kipepewo, Agataako, Sweet banana, among others.

    Latest info reaching us has it that security has been beefed up ahead of ‘Legend Hit After Hit’ concert slated for this Friday at Lugogo Cricket Oval.

    The long awaited ‘Bayuda’ singer’s concert is finally here and security agencies finalized a detailed security meeting last evening and cordon off the area from members of the general public.

    After the security meeting last evening, hundreds of Police officers, Intelligence and counter terrorism officers were deployed from last evening to secure the area and revelers who will attend the concert.

    “Any one dreaming of causing trouble should not dare appearing. Kindly, don’t bother calling or saying hello to me on Friday,” Events security guru Dixon Okello warned.

    Tickets for the Bell Lager sponsored concert are on sale now at all MTN Service Centres in Kampala and for 20k and 100k respectively.
