CICO awarded contract to construct Najjera -Kira- Kiwologoma Road

The messy Najjera -Kira- Kiwologoma Road is about to end after the contract for the reconstruction of the road was awarded.

Sources at Kira Municipality said hopes for improved infrastructure are turning reality on Tuesday 16th July after the signing of the contract with the selected company to work on the stretch from Kiwatule-Najjera – Kira which is Mbogo Road & the Bishop Cyprian Kizito Road stretching from Kira roundabout through Bulindo to Kiwologoma.

The contract for 9km metre stretch has been given to Changqing International Construction Corporation (CICO) and is expected to be a 19 metres wide with double lane separated with a middle mount but dual carriage two meters walkways each side of the road, covered drainage & street rights.

The project funded by the World Bank & AFD through the GKMA-UDP is to cost taxpayers UGX 59 billion shilling.
