    It was a colourful day of events as St. Patrick Nursery Day and Boarding Primary School Mulawa Kira yesterday hosted the graduation ceremony for the top class of 2025 as well as Music Dance and Drama (MDD).

    The graduation ceremony was hosted at the school’s campus in Kitikifumba next to Shimoni College.

    The day saw performances from the pupils as parents joined to celebrate the top class exits as they joined primary next year and also the school’s drama dances.

    Meanwhile the school is receiving 2026 applications for admissions in all classes. The interested parents are called upon to pick up applications forms from the school’s Headteacher’s office. The registration is open for the nursery to P.6 classes. The school also has boarding facilities for Nursery to P.7.

    The school is also equipped well co-carricular activities facilities like swimming pool, football and athletic pitch, Basketball court, Volleyball, netball and many others.

    CICO awarded contract to construct Najjera -Kira- Kiwologoma Road

    The messy Najjera -Kira- Kiwologoma Road is about to end after the contract for the reconstruction of the road was awarded.

    Sources at Kira Municipality said hopes for improved infrastructure are turning reality on Tuesday 16th July after the signing of the contract with the selected company to work on the stretch from Kiwatule-Najjera – Kira which is Mbogo Road & the Bishop Cyprian Kizito Road stretching from Kira roundabout through Bulindo to Kiwologoma.

    The contract for 9km metre stretch has been given to Changqing International Construction Corporation (CICO) and is expected to be a 19 metres wide with double lane separated with a middle mount but dual carriage two meters walkways each side of the road, covered drainage & street rights.

    The project funded by the World Bank & AFD through the GKMA-UDP is to cost taxpayers UGX 59 billion shilling.

    Panic and fear in Kira as former mayor Mamerito survives assassination

    Residents of Kira Division in Wakiso district are in shock and fear as former Mayor Mamerito Mugerwa survived assassination attempt by a whisker.

    The former mayor and staunch NRM supporter was attacked last night at 10pm at his gate and was shot on the head. Luckily enough it was not so bad and was rushed to hospital where he is currently receiving treatment.

    “I freaked out guys, I heard the gun shot at 10pm then afternoon 10 minutes, Police arrived and literally heard three gun shots like so near our home. They didn’t take anything from; they just shot him and left. Police was all over the place thereafter,” a neighbour said.

    In the same area, a one Jesse was also last night attacked as he returned home.  He was severely beaten and his car, a Toyota Kruger UAY 477D was stolen by the assailants.

    “We have managed to secure him to hospital.  Car stolen UAY 477D has been taken. Kindly put it on all social media site with a number may be we can help. Crazy and scary night it was. Jesse got serious injuries, a crack and a clot. It’s bad, he needs prayers and he is at Nakasero Hospital,” a friend said.

    The two incidents left people in the area in fear and panic as no arrests have been made. No clues on why and who was responsible for the attacks.

    We are going into the festive season, let us be careful when moving at night. Thieves are on the loose.
