Mr. Benjamen Emuk was earlier this month handed the flag bearer for the National Unity Platform (NUP) for Bukedea County MP seat 2026 but he did not turn for nomination last week drawing criticism from his party hierarchy. In the move to clear the air, Benjamen Emuk spoke to us on the matter. Below is his full statement;
“As a strong National Unity Platform (NUP) supporter, I joined the party thinking it was a safe haven, one with clear motives and straight forward agenda and strategy but it’s not what I found out. And let it be on record that, I am not attacking NUP but rather appreciate the party for accepting and trusting me but like as business usual, making a decision I made, was irresistibly inevitable, I had to make that move, and I would love to make it public that joining NRM is the best move I ever made in my life, at least in the political scene. It felt unusual at first but I realized that part of, in fact my entire manifesto which I love to call ‘Plan,’ is highly depend-ant on partnerships, private-public partnerships to achieve effective quality service delivery to the people of Bukedea, I have a desire to Bridge Bukedea to Opportunity and I strongly believe that the same doors I opened in the corporate world, working with organizations like TotalEnergies, Airtel Uganda, Mastercard Foundation, aBi, UDB, and others, can be unlocked for Bukedea.

With those partnerships, I aim to bring; Infrastructure development, Entrepreneurship support, Youth and women empowerment programs, Agricultural innovation, Improved health and education systems.

Secondly, I intend to bring about First-Hand Experience with Policy Gaps.
As a journalist covering education, politics, and people-centered stories among sectors, I have consistently highlighted policy failures. Running for MP gives me a platform to move from observation to action, advocating for meaningful legislation that benefits Bukedea and Uganda at large.

A People-First Leadership Philosophy
I am not a career politician—I am a community-rooted servant-leader. I believe Bukedea doesn’t need more politics—it needs practical results and real service.
My Roadmap as MP – A Constituency-Focused Agenda
If elected MP for Bukedea County, I pledge to; Establish local development partnerships with private sector leaders for sustainable impact, Improve youth employment by facilitating skills training and entrepreneurship hubs, Push for better service delivery in health and education sectors through public-private collaborations and Create an open-door leadership culture, where citizens can engage directly with their representative among others.

You can see, all that needs a united force to make it work and being on the other side, might not actually easily be achievable but with the ruling government, it will just be a matter of time and focus to effect it. So, overall I made a good move at such a time when my people need it, I am currently rallying the NRM Flag Bearers including the Rt. Hon Anita Among, Mr. Ongura Simon LC5 Bukedea and my jolly, kind and passionate colleague and friend Hon. Beecham David Okwere. I decided to step down to support my brother Okwere and see to it that, together, we work for the good of our people, I would love to call upon the people of Bukedea to vote for Hon. Okwere and all the NRM flag bearers in the coming elections and trust me, we are sure of effective delivery. Please disregard what I said earlier on while at NUP that our leaders do not deliver, just know I was in opposition and it’s the traits of opposition to identity the smallest gabs/ challenges in any aspect and highlight and magnify it to look like the government is completely useless, let’s protect the gains! And lastly, H.E General Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the President of the Republic of Uganda and Fountain of honor will be in Bukedea on the 4th of November, let’s show our president love by turning up in gigantic numbers, he loves us and will surely appreciate us for sending Rt. Hon. Anita Among, the Speaker of Parliament who also doubles as the NRM 2nd National Vice Chairperson Female, back to Parliament unopposed. We ought to give him our assurance that Bukedea District is sending him, only the NRM Flag bearers, not only to Parliament but right from LC1 level. Come listen to words of wisdom, accountability, hope, wealth creation and development and also get chance to interact with our visionary leader, come one, come all”, Hon. Benjamen Emuk Bukedea County in Bukedea District.
