Blogger/Vlogger Ronald Kibedi Cox will have to spend at least more weeks in Luzira Prison on charges of cyber harassment and insulting modesty of a woman.
Kibedi on Thursday afternoon was arraigned before the Buganda Road Chief magistrates court before Grade One Magistrate Siena Owomugisha and he denied the said charges against him.
He was then sent to Luzira Prison until March 6th, 2024 after Prosecution led by Lydia Nakato informed Court that the investigations are still ongoing.
The Court has heard that between 2019 and January 2024 in Kampala District, Kibedi used a computer to post messages and videos on his Facebook accounts/pages namely; Kibedi Ronald Cox, Kibedicox Cox and Kibedi Abooki Cox insulting and harassing the person of Juliet Zawedde and his close associates.
The Prosecution says that he then made suggestions or proposals referring to Juliet Zawedde a Ugandan social entrepreneur based Boston, US.
He described her as a Prostitute, Fraudster, Sex Worker, Fake Dollar Boss and other obscene words full of vulgarity, lewd lascivious or indecent.
The Court has further heard that during the same time and place, Kibedi with intent to insult the modesty of a woman, he recorded and posted videos on his Facebook accounts such that the said videos should be viewed by Zawedde.
This is not the first time that Kibedi is being charged with cyber harassment and insulting modesty of a woman. About a month ago, he was arraigned before the same Court presided over by Grade One Magistrate, Julia Basajjabalaba.
According to section 24 of the Computer Misuse Act which Kibedi has been charged with, if found guilty, he is liable to pay a fine of 72 currency points(1.4 million shillings)or imprisonment not exceeding three years or both.
