He promised a conducive working environment that would ensure all staff thrive at their best in their respective areas of delivering on the Statistics mandate.

The ED noted that the Bureau had registered a significant performance score of 93% up from 86% that was registered in the past Financial Year.

He said that the target is now to attain the much desired 100% in this new Financial Year.

Newly appointed staff were recognised with the ED urging all to seek promotion by working hard and remaining focused.

In a surprise move, he announced the Executive Director’s meritorious award for the best performing staff who would score 90%.

Such a staff would walk away with the 13th pay cheque upon excellent performance.

The Executive Director, however, cautioned against favouritism in awarding tasks as supervisors were alleged to award tasks to those they favoured rendering others over redundant.

He added that the Bureau would not tolerate paying people a salary for redundancy and that all staff would be assigned equal tasks.

Pertaining to Census, Dr Mukiza noted that process is already on track only waiting new dates yet to be approved by Cabinet.

He assured all in attendance that the whole country should be mapped 100% by October. The meeting also provided an opportunity for staff to consent to the Retirement Benefits Scheme.

This is going to be the first digital technology driven census by use of tablets.
