    Kampala: The fifth edition of Kampala’s biggest restaurant showcase, the Kampala Restaurant Week came to a grand end with a lavish awards ceremony held at Skyz Hotel, Naguru on Monday evening, to conclude the 10-day food bonanza that was supported by Tusker Lite.

    The annual food event offered thousands of the city’s food lovers a variety of mouthwatering meals offered by the 40 participating restaurants at affordable prices. This year’s 10-day food showcase that ran from August 1-10 was dubbed the ‘Three Course Edition’ with restaurants offering starters, main course signature dishes and desserts. The meals were washed downed with a complimentary Tusker Lite; the beer of choice for food pairing.

    The climax of the event was the awards ceremony where the best restaurants as selected by foodies who patronized the restaurant week that was organized by Pearl Guide in partnership with Tusker Lite were recognized.

    Speke Apartments’ La Cabana Restaurant walked off with the coveted accolade, the Top Signature Restaurant for the second year running.  Other winners of the evening were Izumi Restaurant with the ‘Innovation Award’ for their deliciously unmatched Thai Massaman Curry, Cantine Divino with the ‘Outstanding Service Award’ and Olives Restaurant with the ‘Top Casual Dining Restaurant Award.’

    The seventh day of the largest restaurant showcase in Uganda, the Kampala Restaurant Week powered by Tusker Lite had food lovers camped out at Karveli Restaurant for an action-packed cook-off.

    It was a fun food battle of culinary skills being put to test as food enthusiasts had a showdown attempting to wow their audience with a mouth-watering continental ‘meaty burger’ hosted by Total.

    Sandra Birungi was declared winner of the evening’s cook-off and earned herself a gas cylinder as her counterpart walked away with a main course coupon that comes with a Tusker Lite bottle to one of the participating restaurantsahead of the close of the showcase set to end this Saturday, August 10.

    As the cook-offs continue, food lovers from all corners of Kampala have been streaming through many of the premium participating restaurants savouring the tasty delicacies being served and enjoying a fine dining experience.

    Pearl Guide, the organisers of the show revealed that members of the public will have the deciding vote as the unveiling of the exceptional performers will take place at the awarding ceremony come Monday, August 12 at Naguru Skyz Hotel.

    Kampala: Tusker Lite once again presentsKampala’s most loved food bonanza, the annual Kampala Restaurant Week! The fifth edition of the biggest restaurant showcase in town was officially launched at La Cabana Restaurant, Speke Apartments in Kampala last evening.

    The showcase runs from August 1 to August 10 with over 40 of the city’s best restaurants offering signature dishes in what has been dubbed the Three Course Edition.

    “We are glad to partner with the Kampala Restaurant Week once again. You already know that any meal goes down well when paired with an ice cold Tusker Lite. We thank Kampala people for making Tusker Lite the beer of choice when having a meal, so, during the restaurant week, your first drink will be on us,” Cathy Twesigye, Tusker Lite’s Brand Manager said.

    The food showcase will be an experience that will leave food lovers spoilt for choice with Casual Dining and Signature Dining restaurants providing three-course offerings with starters, main courses and desserts.

    “The Kampala Restaurant Week is a great opportunity for Kampala’s finest restaurants to show off what they have to offer. This will be our fifth edition allowing over 40 restaurants great exposure while bringing a fun dining experience for food lovers,” said Philip Kalibwani, Business Development Managerat Pearl Guide, the showcase’s organizer.

    An award ceremony will be held on August 12 to conclude the showcase. The ceremony will recognise restaurants with the “Best Dish,” “Outstanding Service” and “Overall top restaurant of the Week” voted for with a new system that allows the public to vote online. City chefs will be up for a run for their creativity whilst in the kitchen in order to be recognised at the end of the 10-day showcase.

    Taking place from 1-11 August 2019, Kampala Restaurant Week pools together 40 restaurants in a showcase that sees these restaurants create new exciting dishes at discounted prices, encouraging consumers to walk through their doors and discover the potential of our restaurant industry. The event is supported Tusker Lite beer who compliment each meal with an ice cold beer to give extra value for diners.

    The 2019 edition also features two participants from Entebbe, one from Jinja and one from Mbarara, as The Pearl Guide intends to show the countrywide growth plan of the restaurant showcase.

    Kampala Restaurant Week comes to an end as Tusker Lite and Pearl Guide Uganda award the best performing restaurants

    Kampala Restaurant Week came to an end after a 10-day exciting experience of food discovery and restaurant hoping for many food lovers in and around Kampala.

    Kampala’s largest restaurant showcase was culminated with an awards ceremony at the Kampala Sheraton Hotel. Organised by Pearl Guide Uganda and powered by Uganda Breweries Limited’s premium beer, Tusker Lite, who gave out a complimentary beer for every meal, Kampala Restaurant Week saw over 40 restaurants including those in Jinja and Mbarara participate in this year’s edition.

    The funfair that had kicked off on the 5th July and went on till the 15th July, was crowned with an awards ceremony where restaurants were recognized for their exceptional performance in the categories of Outstanding Service Award, Innovation Award (also known as the Dish of the Week Award), Top Casual Dining and Top Signature Dining Restaurants.

    The night’s big winners were The Explorer, Kampala Serena Hotel which picked up two awards for the Outstanding Service Award and the Top Signature Dining Restaurant award.

    Not to be outdone, Riders Lounge also scooped the award for the Top Casual Dining restaurant. Among other winners were Le Château which won the Innovation Award.

    The restaurants were judged by members of the public and judges from the Chaine de Rotisseurs, a body of Chefs worldwide. The body which comprises of over 25,000 members worldwide also has 60 members coming from Uganda.

    Liquid Silk Bugolobi played host to the first ever ‘Tusker Lite Fuse Box’, a new addition to the Kampala Restaurant Week lineup of splendid activities and eat outs

    The Tusker Lite Fuse Box is a lineup of selected restaurants that serve creative Ugandan fusion of cuisines. In this edition of the Kampala Restaurant Week, Bush Pig, Pizza Connection and Liquid Silk Bugolobi took part in the Tusker Lite Fuse Box.

    At Liquid Silk Bugolobi, patrons were treated to a chicken delicacy, the ‘Chicken Kinyogi Towie’ (sticky barbeque buffalo wings, stir fried beef with a bowl of curry re-fried beans, rice and chapati) which was served with a complimentary Tusker Lite. Patrons were also treated to some soothing dessert, the ‘Vanilla and Mango Gellato’.

    Powered by Tusker Lite and organised by Pearl Guide Uganda, the largest showcase of restaurants in and around Kampala kicked off on the 5th July and will go till 15th July.

    During the Kampala Restaurant week, restaurants get to offer meals going as low as UGX 15,000 and UGX 25,000. On normal days, the same meals would go for as high as UGX 35,000.

    Jinja Sailing Club was the centre of focus as key media personnel and food lovers traveled to Jinja to check out its participation in the ongoing 3rd edition of the Kampala Restaurant Week.

    Powered by Tusker Lite and organised by Pearl Guide Uganda, the largest showcase of restaurants in and around Kampala kicked off on the 5th July and will go till 15th July.

    During the Kampala Restaurant week, restaurants get to offer meals going as low as UGX 15,000 and UGX 25,000. On normal days, the same meals would go for as high as UGX 35,000. This was acknowledged by Jinja Sailing Club’s Executive Chief, Noman Qureshi who said that the restaurant week activity offers customers a chance to try out the best cuisines at affordable prices.
