    Blu3 and Joshua Baraka are set to headline the 2024 edition of Blankets and Wine, scheduled for September 29 at the Lugogo Grounds in Kampala.

    The duo will be joined by a diverse lineup of both local and international artists, including Andereya Baguma, Karun, Sun El Musician x Simmy, Mootownoh, and Kivumbi King, offering fans an eclectic mix of musical talent.

    This year’s event promises a fusion of international and local music, with a variety of experiences including fashion, food, family-friendly activities, and craft markets. Revelers can expect an exciting and immersive evening, with two stages designed to cater to different musical tastes and vibes.

    The main stage, aptly named ‘Blankets,’ will feature live performances from headliners and other top-tier artists, while the second stage, ‘Onja Onja,’ will showcase DJ sets from talents like Etania, Flo Moon, R3ign Drops, Masaka Masaka, and That Guy Em.

    Afsa Umutesi, the lead producer for the Kampala event, expressed excitement about hosting such a vibrant lineup of performers. “We are thrilled to bring both legends and emerging stars together, offering something for every music lover,” she said. She also highlighted that Blankets and Wine aims to create an unforgettable festival atmosphere right in the heart of the city.

    Justine Mbugua, the festival director, emphasized the difference between a typical concert and Blankets and Wine, describing the event as a multi-faceted festival experience. “It’s more than just music; it’s a celebration of art, culture, and community. Our goal is to create a shared experience that goes beyond the performances,” Mbugua noted.

    The last 10th Anniversary edition of Blankets and Wine was nothing but fun, fashion, and real December enjoyments delivered by Nigerian Afro-pop singer, Yemi Alade exceptionally.

    Yemi Eberechi Alade, popularly known as Yemi Alade graced the show at around 10: 00 pm in the middle of screams from revelers and snapchat cameras to capture each and every moment.

    Yemi, who is still searching for her Johnnie, took the revelers down memory lane with performances to Africa, Tangerine, Oh My Gosh and one of her latest songs bubble it, where some revelers joined her on stage, ending in a selfie moment with the star.

    Yemi clad in orange, performed alongside energetic backup dancers who made it hard to take one’s eyes off the entire performance.The Blankets and Wine experience kicked off at 2:00 pm amidst the scorching sun with a DJ takeover from DJ Fluid, all the way from Kenya hosted by media personalities, Deedan, Lynda Ddane and Derrick.

    As known for live music, revelers enjoyed a great musical experience with performances from the AKA Dope band, Kohen Jaycee, Bero Sings, Wander JR and the popular Bango star, Rickman Manrick and more.

    Numerous hospitality tents and experiential areas immersed revelers in different experiences, highlighted by the UBL experiential space that immersed revelers into the different brands like Tusker Malt Lager Gordon’s Pink, Johnnie Walker, and Tusker Premium Cider the main event sponsor.

    Jamaican Reggae Legend – Turbulence – Set for Kampala Concert

    Jamaican reggae and dancehall star – Turbulence – will perform live at the Yard 1 Fest on Saturday 12th March 2022 at the Uganda Museum, it has been confirmed.

    The artist, whose real name is Sheldon Ryan Augustus Campbell, is known for hit songs like Real Warrior, For Me, Love Can Make, Rasta Forever, As Sure As The Sunshine, What Is Words and many more and is expected in Kampala on Tuesday 8th March.

    According to the organisers – One Time Marketing Group Uganda and Yard One Promote Jamaica – the artist will be in Uganda accompanied by the Lion Story Band as part of the One Reggae Music Ah Play tour the group is making around Africa.

    The show, sponsored by Pilsner Lager, will feature Ugandan legends like Vampino, Shanks Vivi Dee and Henry Tigan, as well as a lineup of talented new generation artists like Lady Slyke, Sera Marley, Kunta Dukeplay and many more.

    Kampala: Ugandan revelers are in high spirit for the 10th Anniversary of Blankets and Wine after a dry spell of close to two years as a result of the lockdown.

    The announcement was made by the organizers, House of Djs alongside co-sponsors Roke Telkom, Nxt radio, Uganda Airlines amongst others.

    Blankets and Wine is slated for 27th March 2022 hosting big artists and Deejays from in and out of the country like Uncle Waffles from South Africa, Nviiri from Kenya, Bruce Melodie from Rwanda amongst the lined up Ugandan artists.

    Amanya Atuhaire, the Marketing Manager at Roke Telkom said that, “Roke Telkom has been a proud sponsor of the Blankets & Wine since 2012 and we are excited to be part of their 10th Anniversary.”

    The internet service provider will cater for the merrymakers on the D-day with high speed internet using the Roke spot services.

    “We are set to cater for the audience with fast internet connection at Lugogo cricket oval as they enjoy the different performances,” Amanya added.

    Blankets And Wine Celebrates 10th Anniversary with Tusker Cider

    Blankets and Wine is officially back with another premier music experience designed to showcase outstanding musicians in the emerging genres of afro-based music.

    Following an almost 2-year hiatus due to a ban on physical events over the pandemic, the first edition of the year will now encompass live music performances, a pop-up market, food court among others.

    The event is scheduled for 27th March 2020 at the Lugogo Cricket Oval.

    The post-lockdown edition coincides with the event’s 10th anniversary and according to the organisers, the celebration has been themed “Blankets is Me” and will reinforce the DNA of Blankets and Wine in an all-new experience powered by Tusker Cider.

    “Blankets and Wine is essentially more than a concert and allows revellers to enjoy live music from some of Africa’s most talented artists, interact with friends, meet new people and have an all-around great experience. As we commemorate 10 years of existence, we intend to reinforce the essence of this event and deliver a memorable experience for everyone who attends,” said Chantal Ngenzi, General Manager at House of DJs.

    The organizers reveal that the return of Blankets and Wine is going to feature local and international performances from Uganda and around Africa.

    These include Spice Diana alongside Cosign Yenze, and the international line-up includes Uncle Waffles (South Africa), Nviiri the Story Teller (Kenya) and Bruce Melodie (Rwanda).

    “This edition shall immerse consumers into the world of Tusker Cider as they interact with the brand during the event.

    Blankets and Wine, the much-anticipated picnic themed music festival in Kampala has joined the list of events to be postponed following the President’s address to the nation on Thursday 19th March about the COVID-19 safety measures.

    The 25th April edition had gained a lot of social buzz following the announcement a week ago of Nigerian sensation Yemi Alade, as the headlining act at the Tusker Malt sponsored concert.

    House of Deejays communicated the postponement last evening, the organisers of the sponsored event.

    “Following the presidential directive to enforce social distancing to help curb the spread of the Corona Virus (COVID-19) Pandemic, the 25th edition of Blankets and Wine has been postponed with a new date yet to be communicated,” read the post.

    In Uganda, the government has put restrictions on large public gatherings in a bid to manage a corona virus outbreak. Events that were scheduled to take place within the next 32 days have been postponed to a further date until it is safe for Ugandans to socialize once again.

    According to Tusker Malt Brand Manager, Cathy Twesigye, UBL respects the restrictions put in place by the government of Uganda to protect the safety of its citizens.

    “We are aware that Ugandans will be spending more time at home. We encourage you and your loved ones to stay safe, drink responsibly while at home and most importantly, keep it 100% clean,” she said.

    The Ministry of health, to date, there has been no confirmed case of the COVID-19. A total of 2,278 travelers including Ugandans and others travelling back home have been identified as high-risk and identified for purposes of follow up and institutional quarantine.

    Ugandans , families and communities will continue to practice the safety measures and necessary precautions as the situation is constantly observed and continues to unfold.

    Lugogo; It was no ordinary concert for city party animals who turned up for December’s 24th edition of Blankets and Wine.

    It certainly couldn’t have been with the music festival headlined by American rapper, singer and songwriterJidenna in Lugogo on Sunday.

    The shift in venue from Lugogo Cricket Oval to the Indian Association Grounds did not sway fans away from the Tusker Malt–sponsored event.

    Instead, multitudes thronged the venue in high spirits, armed with their blankets, wine and of course clad in bold stylish outfits, with fans eager for the evening’s performances.

    Before the headlining act performed, artists like Evon, Shawn Maine, Apio Moro, Koojo and Allan Toniks kept the crowds entertained for the better part of the jam-packed Sunday Afro-music extravaganzaperforming songs infused with both Afro-soul andcontemporary urban music, not forgetting the DJs that kept revelers animated as the evening crept in.

    The fine-looking bearded stud would jump onto the stage a little after 10pm and wasted no time getting fans into the groove as he pulled off an energeticperformance with the highlight of the night being his earlier smash hits like “Classic Man” “Boomerang” “Little Bit More” and “Bambi’ that set the place ablazeas many echoed the lyrics in lively sing-song.

    “Jidenna is truly a music genius, one with unique sound and style who weaves his African roots into everything he does. Tonight’s acts kept it 100% real and we are more than delighted to have such anexciting line-up at our Afro-fusion music stage for this edition of Blankets and Wine,” said Cathy Twesigye, Tusker Malt Brand Manager.

    Last night American artist Jidenna was revealed as the headlining international act for two of Kampala’s most anticipated events, Ciroc’s Abryanz Style and Fashion Awards (ASFAs) and the Tusker Malt sponsored Blankets and Wine’s end of year finale 2019.

    The revelation was officially announced by Talent Africa Boss, Aly Alibhai during the ASFAs Nominees Release ceremony held at Kingdom Kampala.

    The Classic Man star will be making his way into the party central of Kampala for the two events slated to take place subsequently on Friday, December 13 and Sunday, December 15.

    The Cîroc sponsored event, Abryan Style and Fashion Awards (ASFAs) 2019 has been designed to be the most star studded ASFAs under the theme ‘The Stars.’ The iconic fashion event which will take place at the Kampala Serena Hotel in December will also host Ghanaian born British fashion icon, Ozwald Boateng known for his trademark twist on classic British tailoring and bespoke style.

    “Jidenna stands out as a profound fashion forward artist worldwide. Both Jidenna and Ozwald have used their stardom to push African fashion beyond borders and we are glad to be hosting them this year,” said Brian Ahumuza, Founder ASFAs.

    With December a few weeks away, Kampala’s thrill seekers are already anticipating a turn up in full swing with the two events promising to be the ‘litest’ events.     It was not business as usual last night at Blankets & Wine as Formula 1 and the Premiership stole all the “limelight” from city slay queens who are the usual source of attention at the picnic style event that takes place throughout the year at the Lugogo Cricket Oval.

    At first glance, the crowds were sprinkled all around the venue, strolling and taking sun-kissed pictures until attention was turned to the Johnnie Walker tent with eyes glued to the screen as fans watched Formula 1 and later a Premiership match between Manchester United and Chelsea.

    The Johnnie Walker tent was a hive of action as fans of Formula 1 were treated to a live feed of the Azerbaijan Formula 1 race and a match between Manchester United and Chelsea that had revelers glued to their seats with just echoes of cheers and grumbles resounding throughout the tent.

    “We wanted to do something different this time around get the guys out and I am more than happy that we managed to lure them out” said Roger Agamba International Spirits Brand Manager, Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL).

    The Johnnie Walker tent also featured a silent disco that kept the beautiful ladies occupied as the gents switched their attention to the Premier League match between Manchester United and Chelsea which ended in a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford.

    The event that took place at its usual spot the Lugogo Cricket Oval also featured Silent Discos and performances from South Africa’s Shekinah, Uganda’s King Saha ,Myco Ouma, Joseph Sax, Lamu, mixes from DJ Crim and many others.
