Kampala: The Rotary Club of Uptown Kampala installed its second President Dr Fredrick Bakandonda at the Presidential Installation Ceremony at St. Anthony’s Restaurant, Nakasero, marking the official transition of leadership for the 2026–2027 Rotary year.
The event brought together Rotarians, Rotary leaders, development partners, friends of Rotary, and members of the community to celebrate a year of service achievements while welcoming new leadership that will steer the club into its next chapter of growth and impact.

The installation ceremony is one of the most significant events on the Rotary calendar, symbolizing continuity, leadership, and Rotary’s enduring commitment to creating positive change in communities. During the event, the outgoing President Immy Nakyeyune handed over the mantle of leadership to Dr Bakandonda, who unveiled his vision and priorities for the year ahead.
Dr Bakandonda said ‘We shall continue serving through health initiatives, blood donation, peace initiatives, environmental activities, youth engagement, vocational service and buddy group projects. We shall also tell our story boldly, because good work deserves visibility’.

Over the past year, the Rotary Club of Uptown Kampala has continued to strengthen its contribution to community development through initiatives focused on education, health, polio plus vaccinaton drives, financial literacy, youth empowerment, peacebuilding, and support for The Rotary Foundation.
Nakyeyune said ‘Today, we hand over a club built on a strong foundation. The incoming President and Board inherit not only a club with great potential, but also a committed membership, a growing reputation and a shared responsibility to continue building on what has been started’.

The club has also expanded opportunities for fellowship, professional networking, membership growth and leadership development among its members.
The incoming leadership is expected to build on the club’s momentum by strengthening membership engagement, expanding partnerships, enhancing community impact projects, and increasing the club’s visibility within Uganda and the wider Rotary network.
As Rotary International continues its mission of uniting people and taking action to create lasting change, the Rotary Club of Uptown Kampala remains committed to mobilizing professionals and community leaders to address some of society’s most pressing challenges through volunteer service and collective action.
