Bebe Cool Nominated for AFRIMMA 2026 Timeless Impact Award

Kampala: Ugandan music heavyweight Bebe Cool has been nominated for the prestigious Timeless Impact Award at the 2026 African Muzik Magazine Awards, AFRIMMA.

The nomination places the Gagamel boss among 10 of Africa’s most enduring music icons. He will be competing against Timaya, Flavour, Kcee of Nigeria, Sarkodie of Ghana, Oskido and Mafikizolo of South Africa, Amr Diab of Egypt, Slapdee of Zambia, and Nameless of Kenya.

The Timeless Impact Award recognizes legendary artists whose influence has helped shape African music across generations.

According to AFRIMMA, this year’s shortlist “celebrates some of the continent’s most enduring names, with honorees spanning multiple regions and genres. From Afrobeats and Highlife to Kwaito and Afro-pop, the category highlights artists whose contributions continue to inspire fans and musicians alike.”

Each nominee has built a remarkable legacy through decades of chart-topping music, cultural influence, and consistent contributions to the growth of African entertainment. Their impact, AFRIMMA notes, “extends beyond hit records, helping to elevate African music on both continental and global stages.”

For East Africa, Bebe Cool and Kenya’s Nameless are the sole representatives in the category — a testament to the region’s contribution to the continent’s sound.

The AFRIMMA nod comes at a peak moment for Bebe Cool.

He recently released his highly anticipated 7-track EP, _NO RISK_, which is currently dominating airwaves and streaming charts in Uganda. The project is a genre-blending journey through Afrobeat, Dancehall, Reggaeton, and R&B, anchored by a distinct Ugandan vibe.

The EP arrives just one year after his critically acclaimed album BREAK THE CHAINS, released on May 30, 2025. That project reaffirmed Bebe Cool’s dominance and earned praise for fusing Afro-electronic, Afrotech, and Afro-pop into a bold, futuristic sound.

With a career spanning over two decades, from dancehall anthems to Afro-pop evolution, Bebe Cool remains one of Uganda’s most influential cultural exports.

The Timeless Impact Award is tipped to be one of the most celebrated categories at AFRIMMA 2026, which will be held in Dallas, Texas. Voting details are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

As voting opens, fans across Uganda and the diaspora are expected to rally behind Bebe Cool as he flies the Ugandan flag in a category honoring music that “continues to stand the test of time.”

Lady Champagne Drops Emotional Afrobeat Anthem “Leave Me Alone” After Strong Debut Reception

Rising Afrobeat artist Lady Champagne is back in the spotlight with a brand-new release titled “Leave Me Alone,” just months after the positive reception of her debut single “Webale Nnyo.”

The Germany-born singer, who has been steadily building her name in the Afrobeat space, takes a more emotional turn this time, shifting from the celebratory vibe of her first track into deeper themes of heartbreak, betrayal, and personal healing.
“Leave Me Alone” is centered on self-worth and the courage to walk away from relationships that no longer bring peace.

According to Lady Champagne, the song speaks to anyone who has reached their breaking point in love and chosen to move forward.

“This song is about knowing your worth. It’s for everyone who has reached a point where they can confidently say, ‘I’ve had enough. It’s time for me to move forward,’” she said.

  • Nyege Nyege heads to Brussels as East Africa’s biggest festival goes global

Nyege Nyege heads to Brussels as East Africa’s biggest festival goes global

Kampala; For more than a decade, Nyege Nyege has evolved from a bold cultural experiment on the banks of the Nile into one of Africa’s most influential creative movements.

Every year, thousands of people travel to Uganda for a festival renowned for pushing musical boundaries, celebrating underground sounds and introducing audiences to artists they may never have discovered elsewhere. But perhaps the biggest story has never been what happens during the festival itself. It has been everything happening in between.

Today, Nyege Nyege is no longer simply a four-day festival in Uganda. Through its artists, record label, touring network and creative collaborations, the movement now delivers nearly 400 performances every year across Brazil, Germany, Japan, China, Australia and Europe, creating opportunities for Ugandan and African artists to perform on some of the world’s biggest stages.

Now, that journey reaches another milestone. On September 25 and 26, 2026, Nyege Nyege will officially launch Nyege Nyege Mirror World in Brussels, Belgium, marking the festival’s first major expansion into Europe.

Hosted at La Fabriek CityGate, Mirror World will feature over 40 artists across three stages, alongside exhibitions, film screenings, performances and immersive cultural experiences that have become synonymous with the Nyege Nyege brand.

Wave One tickets are already on sale at €15 for Friday, €20 for Saturday, or €30 for a full weekend pass. Nyege Nyege Mirror World introduces European audiences to the creative spirit, innovation and fearless experimentation that have defined Nyege Nyege for more than a decade. Its arrival in Europe raises an important question. Has Nyege Nyege outgrown Uganda? Perhaps the better question is whether Uganda has fully recognised what Nyege Nyege has become.

Beyond the annual festival in Jinja, Nyege Nyege has quietly established itself as one of Africa’s strongest cultural exports, taking Ugandan creativity to global audiences while creating lasting opportunities for artists, producers, DJs and creatives.

Mirror World is not a departure from Uganda—it is an extension of it.As countries around the world increasingly invest in culture as a driver of tourism, diplomacy and economic growth, Uganda already possesses something many nations spend decades trying to build: a globally recognised cultural movement with an audience that stretches far beyond its borders.

The question is no longer whether Nyege Nyege belongs in Europe. The question is whether Uganda is ready to embrace Nyege Nyege as one of its greatest cultural exports. The world is no longer discovering Nyege Nyege. It is discovering Uganda through Nyege Nyege.

Nyege Nyege Mirror World may be taking place in Brussels, but its story begins in Uganda—and the world is finally listening.

  • How fast rising MC Azeezah Hashim is raising the standard for live events in East Africa

How fast rising MC Azeezah Hashim is raising the standard for live events in East Africa

Kampala: For decades, the success of an event has largely been measured by one question: Who is performing? The biggest conversations before a concert, awards gala or corporate event have traditionally centred around headline acts, celebrity appearances and star power.

However, as the events industry continues to evolve, another question is becoming just as important: Who is leading the experience? That conversation has become even more relevant with the arrival of celebrated Kenyan media personality and award-winning event host Azeezah Hashim in Uganda.

Managed in the market by Talent Africa Group, Azeezah’s growing presence reflects a broader shift taking place across East Africa, where event organisers are increasingly investing in world-class hosts as a critical part of delivering memorable audience experiences.

Across the region, organisers are recognising that audiences are no longer satisfied with simply attending an event. They want to be immersed in an experience. They expect seamless production, meaningful engagement, memorable moments and authentic connection from the time they arrive until the final applause. As a result, the role of the event host has transformed from that of a programme announcer into one of the most influential figures on stage.Today’s hosts are expected to do far more than introduce speakers or performers. They are storytellers, moderators, entertainers and brand ambassadors. They set the tone for the room, navigate unexpected moments with confidence, maintain the energy of thousands of guests and create the emotional connection that audiences often remember long after an event has ended.

This evolution reflects a wider transformation within Africa’s live entertainment and experiential marketing industry, where the quality of an event is no longer defined solely by the calibre of its performers, but by the overall experience delivered to every guest. Whether it is a corporate summit, product launch, music festival or awards ceremony, brands are placing greater emphasis on every touchpoint that shapes audience perception.

Recognising this growing demand, Talent Africa Group continues to invest in personalities who represent the future of event hosting. Rather than viewing hosts as supporting acts, the company believes they are experienced curators capable of elevating productions, strengthening brand engagement and creating unforgettable audience interactions. Among the personalities leading this new generation is Azeezah Hashim, whose career has seen her command some of Africa’s biggest stages. With more than a decade in the media, over 200 events hosted across the continent, and experience spanning television, radio, corporate conferences and international award ceremonies, Azeezah has earned a reputation for combining commanding stage presence with effortless audience connection.

Her arrival in Uganda presents new opportunities for brands, corporations, government institutions and event organisers looking to elevate the quality of their productions with internationally recognised hosting talent. It also reflects Talent Africa Group’s commitment to bringing some of the continent’s finest creatives and media personalities closer to the Ugandan market.

“The role of an event host has fundamentally changed,” said a spokesperson from Talent Africa Group. “Great hosts don’t simply guide audiences through an event—they shape the entire experience. They influence how people engage with a brand, how they remember a production and ultimately how they feel when they leave. As the industry evolves, investing in exceptional hosting talent is no longer optional; it is essential.”

As organisers begin planning their next conferences, concerts, festivals and brand experiences, one question is becoming increasingly significant alongside the search for headline performers: Who will hold the stage? Increasingly, that answer is becoming just as important as the names appearing on the event poster.

For Talent Africa Group, the future of live experiences will not be defined solely by the artists audiences come to see, but by the people trusted to guide those moments, create lasting memories and transform great events into unforgettable experiences.

  • Legends of Sound returns with a new chapter dubbed Group Therapy, Talent Africa Group confirms

Legends of Sound returns with a new chapter dubbed Group Therapy, Talent Africa Group confirms

Kampala: After three consecutive years of delivering some of Uganda’s most celebrated live music experiences, Talent Africa Group has officially announced the return of its flagship nostalgia concert series, Legends of Sound.

The highly anticipated fourth edition will take place on Friday, November 7, 2026, at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel, under a bold new theme: Group Therapy.

Since its inception, Legends of Sound, has evolved beyond a concert into a celebration of African musical heritage. Each edition has honoured legendary artists whose music has transcended generations while creating unforgettable moments for audiences across East Africa.

Last year, audiences witnessed the historic Afrigo @50 celebration, an extraordinary tribute to Uganda’s longest-serving band, featuring the legendary Afrigo Band alongside Congolese music icon Koffi Olomidé. The year before, Talent Africa Group reunited Uganda’s beloved girl group BLU*3, bringing Cindy Sanyu, Jackie Chandiru and Lillian Mbabazi back to one stage in a reunion that captivated the nation and became one of the country’s defining entertainment moments.

Now, the journey continues. This year’s edition introduces a concept unlike anything audiences have experienced before. Aptly titled Group Therapy, the event explores the unique ability of music to heal, reconnect and unite people through shared memories and timeless songs. It is an invitation for audiences to relive the soundtrack of their lives alongside the artists who created it.

Rather than simply revisiting the past, Legends of Sound: Group Therapy promises an immersive celebration of nostalgia, emotion and live performance. The evening will bring together legendary artists whose music has shaped generations across Uganda, East Africa and beyond, creating a shared experience that is both deeply personal and universally familiar.

While Talent Africa Group is keeping this year’s artist lineup under wraps, the organisers promise an unforgettable production featuring iconic performances, surprise collaborations, emotional reunions and legendary voices that have defined African music over the decades. Every announcement in the weeks ahead will reveal another piece of what promises to be the biggest edition of Legends of Sound yet.

“Legends of Sound has become more than an annual concert—it has grown into a cultural experience that celebrates the music, memories and artists who continue to shape our lives,” said a spokesperson for Talent Africa Group.”

Every edition tells a different story. This year, we wanted to create something that resonates with everyone. Group Therapy is about reconnecting with the songs that carried us through different seasons of life, celebrating the voices we grew up listening to, and bringing people together through the healing power of music. The lineup will speak for itself.

“The announcement has already sparked excitement and speculation among music lovers, with one question dominating conversations across social media: Who will headline this year’s edition of Legends of Sound? Will audiences witness another unforgettable reunion? Could legendary regional icons finally share one stage? Or is Talent Africa Group preparing an entirely new musical experience that no one sees coming? For now, the organisers are keeping those answers a closely guarded secret. One thing, however, is certain. On November 7, the legends return. This year’s session of Group Therapy promises to remind audiences why some songs never grow old, some voices never fade, and some moments deserve to be shared together. Further artist announcements, ticket information and exclusive event details will be revealed in the coming weeks.
