  • Her Voice Stopped the Room: Multi Talented Queen Birungi Amber Grace’s “Arise” Anthem Turns Queens Affairs Into a Celebration of African Women’s Strength

Her Voice Stopped the Room: Multi Talented Queen Birungi Amber Grace’s “Arise” Anthem Turns Queens Affairs Into a Celebration of African Women’s Strength

Kampala: The glamorous Queens Affairs Event at Serena Hotel Kampala reached its emotional climax when young beauty and multi-talented queen Birungi Amber Grace stepped onto the stage and delivered an original song that transformed the evening into a powerful celebration of the strength, dignity and resilience of African women.

Before an audience of beauty queens, entrepreneurs, youth leaders, creatives and distinguished guests, Birungi’s performance of “Arise” became the defining moment of the event, leaving a lasting impression on attendees who described it as more than entertainment — but a message of hope and empowerment.

The ballroom that had been filled with conversations, celebrations and glamour suddenly became a place of reflection as the young queen used her voice to tell the untold stories of mothers, daughters and women whose sacrifices continue shaping families and societies.

Opening her performance with the emotional words: “Oh wow… Oh wow… Omukyaala!”

Birungi smiling ear-to ear in a soft serene voice immediately captured the attention of the audience, introducing a song deeply rooted in African identity, culture and the everyday experiences of women.

    Through her powerful lyrics:

“Amanyi g’omukyala tegagwana kunyomebwa. Asanira ekitiibwa, tasana kunyomebwa.”

(A woman’s strength should never be despised. She deserves honour and should never be looked down upon).

Birungi delivered a message recognising the contribution of women who often work silently but remain the foundation of families, communities and nations.

The song further celebrated women through the powerful words:

    “Y’embagi ewanirira okuberawo kw’ensi.”

(A woman is a pillar that supports the existence of the world.)

For many guests, the message reflected the lives of millions of women who wake up every day to nurture families, overcome challenges, build businesses, lead communities and inspire future generations.

As Birungi continued her performance, she painted a picture of the African woman as a symbol of resilience.

“She is a mother, she is a fighter, she is a winner and she is a dreamer,” became one of the strongest messages from the performance.

The emotional peak came as she repeated the call:

    “Omukyaala… Omukyaala… Zukuka… Zukuka… Arise!”

The audience responded with thunderous applause, with many guests rising to celebrate a performance that had turned a beauty event into a platform for social awareness.

Videos from the performance later attracted attention, with many viewers praising Birungi’s confidence, originality and ability to combine music with advocacy for women’s empowerment.

Beyond the Crown: The Rise of a Young Leader

Behind the powerful voice on stage is a young leader whose journey reflects discipline, ambition and purpose.

Birungi Amber Grace has steadily emerged as one of Uganda’s most promising youth ambassadors, building a reputation beyond beauty pageantry through leadership, education and community engagement.

    Birungi Amber Grace

Her achievements include emerging as Miss High School Uganda 2024, becoming Miss Teen Pearl of Africa 1st Runner-Up 2025/2026, and currently serving as Miss Africa International Uganda 2025/2026.

The milestones have positioned her as a cultural ambassador using her platform to champion youth empowerment, women’s leadership, tourism promotion and environmental conservation.

Born on May 31, 2008, Birungi is currently a student of Taibah International School, where she continues to balance her academic journey with leadership, creativity and youth advocacy.

At school, she has earned admiration for her discipline, confidence and commitment to excellence, while also pursuing interests beyond the classroom, including swimming, reading and mentorship of fellow young people.

Away from the spotlight, Birungi has continued to demonstrate that beauty can exist alongside intelligence, discipline and responsibility.

Her dream is to pursue a Bachelor of Laws degree at Harvard University, driven by a desire to become a voice for justice and positive transformation.

“I want to become a voice for the voiceless and inspire young people to use education as a ladder to success,” she said.

Dr. Olive Nabiryo: The Mother Behind the Queen

Behind every successful young leader is a story of sacrifice, mentorship and guidance.

For Birungi Amber Grace, that foundation has been built through the support of her mother, Dr. Olive Enid Nabiryo, whom she credits for shaping her discipline, confidence and values.

Long before the crowns, applause and international recognition, Dr. Nabiryo played the role of mentor, ensuring that her daughter understood the importance of humility, hard work and service.

“My mother taught me discipline, humility and confidence. Every achievement I have today is rooted in her guidance and prayers,” Birungi said.

Dr. Nabiryo describes her daughter as a focused and hardworking young woman determined to use her talents positively.

“She is disciplined, hardworking and passionate about excellence. She believes in using her abilities to inspire fellow youth and promote patriotism,” she said.

According to Dr. Nabiryo, parents have a responsibility to identify and nurture the talents of young people.

“Every child carries unique potential. Parents should support their children’s dreams because talent, when guided well, can change lives,” she said.

A Message That Lives Beyond the Stage

Birungi’s advocacy for women extends beyond Queens Affairs.

During previous Mother’s Day celebrations, she described mothers as the “invisible crown of humanity,” recognising their sacrifices in raising families and shaping future generations.

Her journey represents a new generation of young Africans using creativity, leadership and talent to influence positive change.

As guests departed Serena Hotel Kampala on July 25, the conversation was no longer only about beauty, fashion or glamour.

It was about a young queen who had given women a voice.

Through “Arise,” Birungi Amber Grace reminded society that women deserve respect, their dreams deserve opportunity and their strength deserves recognition.

She did not only sing a song.

    She told a story.

    She inspired a generation.

And she reminded the world that when women rise, humanity rises with them.
