Uganda Tourism Board Chief Executive Officer, Ms. Juliana Kagwa, has said there is a different kind of energy one feels when they land in Uganda – the Pearl of Africa.
Kagwa was speaking during a panel discussion on Day Two of the 7th Uganda Economic Forum 2026 at Next Media Park, where experts discussed how tourism can create jobs, grow businesses, and improve household incomes.

She highlighted Uganda’s people, hospitality, and cultural heritage as central to the country’s tourism offering, noting that our music, food, kingdoms, and stories give visitors more to discover while creating opportunities for local businesses, creatives, and communities.

Held under the theme “Putting Money in People’s Pockets: Translating Economic Growth into Household Prosperity,” the session also examined how Uganda can leverage its co-hosting of AFCON 2027 to turn tourism opportunities into better livelihoods for Ugandans.
