Official: Contract to construct Aki Bua stadium signed, confirms Hon. Peter Ogwang

The State Minister for Sports Hon. Peter Ogwang has confirmed the contract signing for the construction of Aki Bua Olympic Stadium in Lira.

The government and contractor officially signed the agreement on Friday at State House Nakasero.

The stadium will be constructed by SAMCO from Egypt and is slated to last for 20 months costing UGX 470bn.

“Deal done! Yesterday, we signed the contract for the construction of Aki bua Olympic Stadium at State House, Nakasero.The contractor-SAMCO is expected to complete works in 20 months,” Hon. Peter Ogwang confirmed on X on Saturday.

The complex will feature a 20,000-seat main stadium with an athletic track, training facilities with at least two changing rooms, a 2,000-seat multi-sport indoor stadium, a 25-meter semi-Olympic swimming pool, outdoor courts for basketball, netball, volleyball, and badminton, and a 1,000-vehicle parking facility.
