Wu Wei Ling wins the 5th edition of the Annual Netherlands Business Golf Cup
Kampala: A total of 180 players gathered for the 5th edition of the Annual Netherlands Business Golf tournament that took place on Saturday 27th at the Kintante Golf Club. Wu Wei Ling emerged victorious in the Men’s category with 43 points and Brenda Maraka scored 39 points winning in the women’s category.
The tournament is sponsored by dfcu bank in partnership with the Dutch Embassy, KLM Airlines, Vivo Energy, Sadolin Paints and Shares. The intent of the tournament is to create a platform for members of Uganda’s business community in both the public and private sector to provide a networking opportunity with Dutch affiliated businesses.
The tournament teed off at 7:00 am as different golfers battled it out on the greens throughout the day. This was later culminated with an awards dinner to recognize the outstanding players of the tournament.
Speaking at the awards ceremony, dfcu Bank’s Chief Executive officer Mathias Katamba said “dfcu bank has deep partnerships with the kingdom of the Netherlands, Dutch embassy and community. Looking at all the businesses participating here today, most of them have a connection to the Netherlands and Dutch community. This event is one of the many activities crowning the King’s birthday celebration which happened earlier, but also sports is a great way to bring people together especially around the subject of business. There is no better way to network than around sports. So we are very delighted to participate and will continue to sponsor this tournament”
There was lots of excitement and joy after the winners were awarded their well-deserved prizes.
“I am very happy tonight for winning this tournament, it was quite competitive seeing that we have so many good golfers who participated. I extend my appreciation to the organizers and sponsors of the tournament,” said Wu Wei Ling.
There was excitement as the day’s champion was awarded for outstanding performance on the greens that enabled him to win the 2019 Netherlands Business Golf Cup. He received a Business class ticket to travel to any destination of his choice in Europe courtesy of KLM.
Last year’s overall winners were Rukundo Paul and Asiimwe Evelyn with 42 and 89 points respectively.
