This was seen today as Christians from the five districts making the diocese gathered at Bweranyangi hill for the groundbreaking ceremony of the Bishop’s residential house.

The ground breaking ceremony started at 10am with a Holy Communion service at St. Peters Cathedral, Bweranyangi.

Bishop Johnson Twinomujuni

During the service, Rt. Rev. Johnson Twinomujuni, the WAD Bishop preached living purposeful lives. He urged Christians acknowledge God’s purpose of creating them by living happily, Love God and their neighbors, have attitudes for gratitude, bear fruits that last, and above all seek to be saved to be counted in the kingdom of God when their life on earth is over.

He reminded believers that to work hard so that they can make God feel happy for creating them.

The Holy Communion Service was a manifestation of Unity in WAD. It was graced by Archdeacons, WAD members from Kampala chapter, Church elders, Lay Canons and representatives from WAD institutions. Dr Nathan Karema and Dr. Aggrey from Ankole diocese were also present.

After the service, the bishop’s house construction message was taken to the proposed site where the ceremony was held.

During the ceremony, Mr. Winston Katushabe Bashaasha, the head of construction committee and initiator of the idea told the gathering that the Kampala group, where the idea was sold and welcomed had already contributed UGX 125 million towards the construction of the new residential house for the Bishop.

He noted that the group is ready to support the project that is expected to consume about 1.2bn Uganda shillings, adding that emphasis would be put on Quality where everything will be fit for purpose, Transparency, and Accountability in which every coin will be accounted for.

He proposed that the account name for the project be changed from Consecration to suit the new project plans.

Mr Katushabe further called on Christians to take the project conventionally across the diocese.

A detailed financial report showing what was collected and pledged will soon be put here for us to follow the process well.

In his key note address, Bishop Twinomujuni stressed that WAD is going through a new era which will see the diocese become a model diocese in the province once its institutions including Ankole Western University, Jubilee Sacco take shape with Christians’ support.

He concluded by beseeching Christians across the diocese to keep united for development and also pray hard.

With such developmental steps, WAD will shine again and again.
