Uganda’s oldest man meets President Yoweri Museveni

Government to take care of his basic needs

President Yoweri Museveni has promised to take care of Uganda’s oldest man, John Ahumura who is believed to be around 131 years old.

John Ahumura, aged 131 years, and perhaps the oldest Ugandan alive, visited President Yoweri Museveni at State House, Entebbe at the beginning of this month.

Ahumura, whose birth certificate shows he was born in 1885, visited the president in the company of Fr Fabius Bainakanaama, of St. Padre Pio Nyahuka Catholic Parish, Bundibugyo.

The President invited Ahumura after reading about him in the newspapers.

Following his request, the government will build Ahumura a house and also take care of his basic needs, the president said.
