Oscar Pistorius Movie: “Blade Runner Killer” on DStv Lifetime 131

A biopic movie which tells the story of the rise and fall of Paralympian Oscar Pistorius, Oscar Pistorius: Blade Runner Killer will air on Lifetime (DStv channel 131) this Saturday 18 November at 20:00 CAT. The made-for-television movie, written by Amber Benson and co-produced by ThinkFactory Media, is based on a true story and public records.

The movie tells the story of the world-renowned sprint runner Oscar Pistorius (played by Andreas Damm) who was dubbed ‘Blade Runner’ and his rise to fame as a gold medalist Paralympic champion and as the first double-leg amputee to participate in the Olympics. The movie looks at Oscar’s resilience to overcome his disability, combined with his apparent fairy tale relationship with model Reeva Steenkap (played by Toni Garrn). On Valentines’ Day of 2013, Oscar Pistorius shot and killed his model girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp behind a closed bathroom door, saying he thought he was shooting at an intruder. He has since been convicted and is serving time in jail. Oscar Pistorius: Blade Runner Killer also looks at how Reeva’s brutal death shocked the world and details the courtroom drama that followed.

The families of Oscar and Reeva did not participate in the making of this movie. The movie is produced by Eric Tomosunas and Swirl Films for Thinkfactory Media and executive produced by Leslie Greif. Norman Stone directs it.

Double-leg amputee Pistorius – who reached the semi-finals of the 400m during the 2012 Olympic Games in London – shot and killed 30-year-old Steenkamp on Valentine’s Day 2013.

Having claimed that he thought she was an intruder, Pistorius was found guilty of culpable homicide or manslaughter in September 2014 – he was controversially put under house arrest and is now serving a six-year sentence.

M-Net presents a special Harry Potter Pop-Up Channel On DStv Premium

While celebrating its big 3-0, M-Net continues to treat viewers to magical entertainment, and how much more magical can you get than a channel dedicated to the Harry Potter films?

Soon after the fun-filled M-Net 30th Birthday BlockParty channel draws to a close on DStv Premium at the end of October, the iconic eight-film Harry Potter series will take over the entertainment on channel 109.

M-Net will treat viewers to a special M-Net Movies Harry Potter Pop-up Channel extravaganza from Friday 4 November until Sunday 13 November, and it will run for 17 hours per day from 06:00 until 23:00 CAT.

Leading up to the worldwide release of Warner Bros. Pictures’ Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, an all-new adventure takes viewers back to the wizardry world created by J.K. Rowling, as all M-Net customers will be able to watch all eight Harry Potter films.

In addition to these eight films, the M-Net Movies Harry Potter Pop-Up Channel will be packed with plenty of behind-the-scenes specials and features of this hugely successful movie franchise.

Every night at 20:00 CAT, viewers will be captivated by the magic of the Harry Potter stories and transported into the spellbinding world of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The films will be screened in this time-slot each day in chronological order. But, if you can’t wait another day to watch the next film in the series, you can watch back-to-back screenings throughout the day.

Africa’s pioneering TV channel, M-Net, is about to hit a milestone birthday– the big 3-0!

In October 2016, it will be thirty years since the very first M-Net subscribers connected their newly-acquired analogue decoders. This was a major entertainment breakthrough at the time giving viewers access to a brand new world of great television.

The channels will run for the entire month of October playing everyone’s favourite comedy movie hits, the latest comedy shows and handing the mic over to the world’s best stand-up comedians. The channel will be rolling out the red carpet for comedy greats Seth Rogen, Eddie Murphy, Amy Schumer, Jim Carrey, Leon Schuster, Steve Martin, Austin Powers, Kevin Hart, Trevor Noah, Ellen DeGeneres, Martin Lawrence and many more.
