Nairobi: The Executive Office of The President is set to spearhead vibrant celebrations in honor of Minorities Rights Day at the prestigious Bomas of Kenya in Nairobi on Monday.

Minorities Rights Day, observed annually on December 18th, marks a significant milestone in the international commitment to safeguarding the rights of minority populations. Its roots trace back to 1992 when the United Nations formally adopted the UN Declaration on the Rights of Persons Belonging to National or Ethnic, Religious, and Linguistic Minorities—a testament to the dedication to principles of equality and inclusivity.

In line with the Constitutional provision for all-inclusive growth and shared prosperity, H.E. The President vide Executive Order No. 2 of 2023 established the Minority and Marginalized Affairs Unit in the Executive Office of the President. Part of the mandate of the Unit is to spearhead the recognition and protection of the rights of minorities.

December 18th is designated as the United Nations Day for the Minorities (since 1992) and Kenya will join the rest of the world in marking the day for the first time this year. The event to be held at Bomas of Kenya will be presided over by H.E. The President of the Republic of Kenya.

The theme for this year’s Minorities Rights Day 2023 is “Celebrating Diversity and Inclusion,” emphasizing the importance of embracing diversity for inclusive societies where all individuals are valued and respected.

Minorities Rights Day 2023 is a day dedicated to advancing the cause of minority rights in Kenya. The day aims to raise awareness and shed light on the critical importance of safeguarding the rights of minority communities and highlight the challenges they face. It also advocates for the development and implementation of inclusive policies that address the specific needs and concerns of diverse minority groups. In addition, the occasion strives to empower minority communities by fostering their active participation in society’s political, social, and economic spheres.

Minorities Rights Day aims to take a strong stance against discrimination by endorsing initiatives that ensure equal access to education, employment, and various opportunities for minority groups. The ultimate goal of this day is to foster social cohesion and promote a sense of unity among all citizens, irrespective of their minority status. This will contribute to the cultivation of an inclusive and harmonious society.

  • Ugandan Youth Celebrate Ruto win

    Ugandan Youth Celebrate Ruto win

A group of Ugandans under an umbrella known as Hustler’s Nation today morning gathered at Panameera Bar in Naguru where they drove their cars, Boda Bodas chanting the name Ruto.

The group is said to have been celebrating Kenyan President William Ruto. The drive started at Panamera in Naguru to Munyonyo where they went and celebrated the win.
When asked why they are celebrating a President of another country, one of the members of the group said that for someone to come from the Ghetto and become a President of a Country is not something small but rather big and inspirational. “Ruto is a hustler, he has seen his way from the ghettos of Kenya to the point that he now sits as the President of the Republic of Kenya” one of the members said. He went on and said that as Hustlers Nation, they believe that stories can change and like Ruto’s, every Ugandan hustling in any of the ghettos should believe that one day, the story will change.
Another member said they will not only stop at celebrating Ruto but rather they will also celebrate any hustler who makes it in life.
Ruto was declared President of Kenya after beating Raila Odinga in a tight Presidential election that happened in Kenya a few weeks ago.

Spot On!!! How professor Alex Bashasha predicted how the handshake was to cost Odinga the presidency

Professor Alex Bashasha opinion article on how the handshake would cost Raila Odinga, the Kenyan presidency has come to be spot on, we can confirm.

The opinion which was published in the New Vision in the wake of last month’s Kenyan Presidential Elections sold like a hot cake as it predicted the right outcome.

Below is the full Opinion by Prof. Alex Bashasha

After several days of tension and suspense on who will become next Kenyan President, Williams Ruto was declared the winner by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), the body which oversees elections in Kenya. Ruto garnered …..votes to become the 5th president of Kenya. His closest rival Raila Odinga the former prime minister got …….votes.
Kenyans waited for days as the race kept swinging between Raila Odinga of Azimio La Umoja party and Williams Ruto who campaigned under    United Democratic Alliance (UDA). The race between Ruto and Odinga was cut out to be interesting from the onset.
This is because outgoing President Uhuru Kenyatta decided to support the rival of his Vice President. With Uhuru throwing his weight behind Odinga coupled with the big alliance under Azimio, many thought it would be an easy win for Raila Odinga.
This would have been the case if the Kikuyu who are the biggest tribe had taken heed of the call of the former president. They instead defied this line and Odinga performed badly on the Kikuyu vote. The question now is whether Uhuru’s support for Odinga did more harm than good for Odinga’s last chance to get to state house.
In the next election Odinga will be 82 years and may not have the vigor and interest to stand again. Some argue that Uhuru’s endorsement of Odinga rubbed the country the wrong way with many interpreting it as backstabbing of Ruto who had been loyal to President Uhuru. It also played into the sympathy of many Kenyans and as a result some voters gave Ruto a sympathy vote for being betrayed by Uhuru.
Political analysts have indeed indicated that the support of Uhuru was a double edged sword that pushed away many voters from Odinga. What does this also reveal as far as power and influence is concerned? As president Uhuru was expected to wield a lot of power and influence but this did not translate or show in his support for Odinga.
Did Uhuru have the power and influence that could swing votes in favor of his candidate or it was his Vice President that indeed held more power and influence. Within the political circles, the rumor mill had it that Ruto was literally running the entire state.
Some observers claimed that in private Ruto would brag that he was the one running the state. When this reached the ears of Uhuru it marked the beginning of a bitter fall out between the two.Ruto fell out of favor and Uhuru openly attacked Ruto.
In fact, if it wasn’t for the strict laws and Ruto having been a run mate, Uhuru could sack Ruto as vice present. Even despite the pressure on Ruto to resign, he did not. The win of Ruto has resurrected the debate on whether Uhuru held that much power and influence as president. It is a debate that will go on for some time. But what does Ruto’s win mean for the region. For Uganda Ruto has always been a regular visitor and friend to government.
On several occasions he campaigned for President Yoweri Museveni. With Ruto in charge, the relation between Uganda and Kenya are expected to get better. Ruto has strong background as a businessman and he will see a lot more in terms of trade improve between Uganda and Kenya. We are also likely to see Ruto giving Uhuru an olive branch to bury the hatchet and reconcile. He may appoint him one of his key advisors. I don’t see Ruto going after Uhuru because of the fall out they had.
For Raila Odinga his last chance of becoming president is gone. He will have to consolidate his role as the leader of opposition in Kenya. Also the Alliance might crack soon and we shall see more shifts in political parties. On the international scene, Ruto has the charisma and wit to play good international politics.
In him the West sees a shift from the long family dominated presidency in Kenya to a new face that represents the ordinary Kenyans. All in all, Kenyans must be commended for having conducted peaceful elections against the backdrop of Kenya’s history of electoral violence. The transparency of the IEBC in counting and relaying the results should also be hailed. Unlike the previous elections, the IEBC made all poll results accessible from its server. As soon as the polls closed on Tuesday, all results which were posted electronically, were put in the IEBC server and anyone from anywhere in the world, could access them.

As part of the recognition, over the years- lifetime achievement awards have been handed out annually to leaders that have recognized and continue to promote this spirit among the youth and this year, the key note address will be given by Kenya’s DP HE William S. Ruto.

Previous winners of the Lifetime Achiever’s Award are: Presidents Yoweri Museveni of Uganda and Paul Kagame of republic of Rwanda, entrepreneur and industrialist Late James Mulwana, educationist Prof Senteza Kajubi, social justice campaigner, Noelina Kareeba, and Tanzanian Businessman and philanthropist Ali Mufuruki.

DP Ruto will be this year’s recipient of the prestigious Lifetime Achievements Award

This year’s theme is “Rewarding Innovation And Excellence Recognizing of Young Entrepreneurs and Inspiring the Next Generation of world Leaders”.

    Who is William Samoei Ruto?

Born on December 21st, 1966 in Sambut Village, Kamagut, Uasin Gishu County in the Rift Valley; he is one of Africa’s rising stars in politics and government

He was born and raised in a family of humble beginnings, HE Ruto has risen to the top through sheer hard-work, resilience, ambition and focus.

Having excelled at his undergraduate study, he was awarded a scholarship to do his masters degree by University of Nairobi whose research he concluded in 2008 and was awarded a masters of science in plant ecology.

This year’s theme at Young Achievers awards has a focal angle on: *”inspiring the next generation of leaders”* and this ultimately is the interlink with the choice of key note speaker DP W S. Ruto.

It is a well-established fact that Africa is the youngest continent in the world. At the moment, this youngest continent is the least economically empowered continent validating the need to have youthful sober leaders that can be able to take the reigns and strategically position Africa for the pivotal role it will play in the next 20-50 years.

As Africa engages in long term discussions and partnerships with the present global economic powerhouses, it is worth noting that fore-sighted & strategic leaders is what we need on the table to avert the looming potential of neo-colonialism.

He is happily married to Rachel Ruto and together they have six children.

He is what you would call a strong family man. Despite his hectic schedules, he always has time for his family, wife and children. Some attribute this to his strong ties to the church. In his earlier years, Samoei Ruto was a staunch member of the Africa Inland Church and served as a chairperson of the University Christian Union Choir. It was while he was serving in church (leading a prayer) back in the day that he impacted then President Daniel Arap Moi and his political journey is assumed to have started then.

In 1992, his political career started with the enactment of the Youth for KANU movement and he has never looked back.
